  • Perhaps one of the greatest blessings I have received by being a Mormon is a concrete understanding of the purpose of life. We believe that every human being is a literal child of Heavenly Father. We lived with Him in Heaven before we were born on earth. Our purpose in life is to keep His commandments, so that we can be worthy to return to live with our Father in Heaven again after we die. We cannot be worthy without allowing the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the Savior, to cleanse us of sin. Our Purpose as missionaries and church members is to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and his Atonement, Repentance Baptism, Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and Enduring to the End. • In simple terms the purpose of life is to achieve our true potential as a child of God. We do this by exercising our agency to choose for ourselves and through our efforts becoming the kind of person that we and our Heavenly Father would desire us to become. That is we freely choose to follow his commandments and try to be an influnce for good in the world and to help our fellow men. Show more

  • There are several reasons why God has seen fit to have us live a mortal life here on earth. One reason is so that we can recieve a physical body, another is to learn to choose between good and evil, the goal here on earth is to learn how to become more like our heavenly father. There are many reasons why we are here but the last one I want to mention is that we are here to form family relationships that we can make eternal if we live in harmony with the gospel. For me this brings a lot of hapiness, The Book of Mormon tells one last purpose to life, it is this "adam fell that man might be, and men are that they might have joy" Heavenly father's plan for us was designed to bring us, his children, lasting hapiness. This lasting hapiness is only possible through following Christ and his teachings. Show more

  • The purpose of life is to learn to be happy. We can spend our whole lives looking, but God can show us how. Then it's just a matter of living it has plan. That makes me happy. Show more

  • I believe that I am a spiritual child of our Heavenly Father. I was created in His image. I lived with Him before I came to earth. My purpose on earth is to use my agency and choose to follow Heavenly Father's Plan. I learn of Heavenly Father's Plan from the writings of the prophets in the scriptures and from a living prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. As I live this Plan I will become more like Heavenly Father and the Saviour and through the Atonement of the Saviour I will be able to return to live with Heavenly Father. Show more

  • Have you ever thought there must be something more to life than just living day to day? There is—much more. Your life has a divine purpose. God, your Heavenly Father, has prepared a marvelous plan for your happiness. When you realize that God has a plan for you, it is easier to understand why you are on this earth. God wants all of His children to progress and become more like Him. This time on Earth provides opportunities for you to grow and progress. Coming here allows you to: Receive a physical body. Exercise agency and learn to choose between good and evil. Learn and gain experience that will help you become more like your Heavenly Father. Form family relationships that may become eternal. By following our Heavenly Father’s plan, you—like all of His children—can someday return to live with Him and with your loved ones. You can have greater peace in this life and eternal joy in the life to come. Show more

  • We as LDS members know and believe we receive a physical body when we came on the earth, and while on the earth we have agency, which is where we have a choice to choose between good and evil. We learn and gain experiences to help us become more like our Heavenly Father, we go through good and bad times, but knowing the god lives and loves us and know Jesus Christ lives and loves us, help us realise there is more to this life. We gain a family that may become eternal to us, which means after this life we will see them again. Which to me is the greatest blessings and gift i have ever received, and even after this life, i will be able to keep. Show more
