Hi I'm Matt Richmond
I grew up with all sisters, and I'm a father of all girls. I have an amazing and loving family because we try our best to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I support my family of 8 by professionally developing websites and leading a team of developers. I know Jesus Christ loves me, and that everyone can find peace and lasting joy in life by following His teachings.
I grew up with a family that attended Church weekly. My parents raised us to believe in Jesus Christ and in the restoration of His Church. Though I grew up in the Church, I needed to discover for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was indeed true. During my teenage years, I attended early morning Seminary before going to high school. My teacher asked us to pray to God, by ourselves, to know whether Joseph Smith was a true prophet. I accepted the challenge and asked God if it was true. I received the answer that he was, and that the Church is true! It wasn't a glorious light or vision, but instead an inexplicable peace and almost light inside myself. From that and so many more experiences, I knew for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints is truly God's Church on the Earth today.
I have to live my Faith every day. I try to read my scriptures on a regular basis, both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I pray daily, often several times a day. My prayers are not always long and drawn out, but are often simple petitions for God's help. His answers are often the same, small and simple replies to His son who's asking for help. One of the biggest responsibilities I have is to teach my children about God our Father and our Savior, Jesus Christ. I'm often far from perfect, but I try to set a good example for them of someone who thinks about others the same way Jesus would. I take the greatest two commandments to heart of loving God, and loving His children. I believe God not only cares for me and my family, but every person on the Earth; and because of that we should all think outside ourselves and care for others around us. My wonderful wife and I began a charity to benefit women survivors of violence in the Congo. Since beginning that, and thinking outside the every-day worries of our family, we have felt the love of God in our lives so much more than before.
