Hi I'm Linda

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I love to spend time with family and friends. Playing violin in the local orchestra keeps me practicing. I enjoy reading and watching good movies, especially those based on true stories. I like to go for walks, hikes that aren't too strenuous, and bike rides in my neighborhood. I enjoy volunteering in my community and serving others. I like to recycle and get lots of satisfaction finding good homes for things that I don't use any more. My husband and I enjoy traveling to visit our children and grandchildren and see the many beautiful parts of this world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it brings me joy! I try to follow the teachings of Jesus. My parents taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ in our home. I was baptized by my father and continued to attend church, study and pray. I made solemn covenants at baptism and in the temple to keep the commandments, share the message of the gospel with others, and serve in the church.

How I live my faith

Each day I try to pray and study the scriptures. I pray for opportunities to help others. Monday nights, we have Family Home Evening. When our children were at home, we had a little meeting with prayers, songs, scriptures, a short lesson, a fun activity one favorite was Hide and Seek in the upstairs of our home, and refreshments. Now that they are grown, we hope they continue Family Home Evening in their homes and we try to continue just the two of us. I have had the opportunity to help the women in our congregation grow in faith, strengthen families, and serve others. We assist new mothers, take meals to people who are sick, visit elderly and just try to provide relief when needed. I love to visit and get to know the people in our neighborhood. Presently, I help on our city Beautification Commission, our local orchestra, and music club. Now I serve in the church by teaching 10-11 year old girls in "Activity Days." We practice living the gospel in weekday activities. It is really fun! My husband and I recently received a mission call to serve as missionaries in a Visitors Center. We are thrilled to share the gospel message with people and want to invite all to come unto Christ!

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Linda
Yes! We study the Old Testament in Sunday School one year and the New Testament the next year. Then we study the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus. The fourth year we study Church History and other scriptures. After four years, we start the cycle over again. Each day I try to read a little from the Book of Mormon, the Old Testament, and the New Testament. It is a joy to find the word of God in every book! Show more Show less
