Hi I'm Cynthia

I grew up in the West, but now I live in the East. I am studying to be a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of eight children ages 19 down to 7. I just went back to school last year to finish my bachelor's degree in Spanish. I like to read mysteries and fantasy books. I play the piano. I teach part-time both in church and in the public school system.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was eight years old. I really gained my testimony of the resotration of the gospel when I was a teenager, though. I prayed to know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is truly the word of God like the Bible. I felt the warmth of the confirmation that comes from the Holy Ghost or the Spirit as he is sometimes called. Over the years I have continued to feel that Spirit guide me and tell me what is true.

How I live my faith

I am a teacher for adults at church. I teach from the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other church materials. I play the piano for the women to sing. I visit with some of the women in my area to let them know God cares about them. I work in two school districts as a substitute, and I try to share my faith in God with my coworkers as the opportunity arises.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Cynthia
Mormon women are like most other women in the world, except they have more definition to the role they play. Many of us work whether part or full time. All of us care for our homes and mothers care for their children as God planned for us to do. Mormon men and women are definitely equal. We simply fulfill distinct roles. The men do most of the administrative work with the support of the women. That is not to say women cannot be leaders. They fulfill those leadership positions that they are asked to do. The women are primarily responsible for the nurturing of their children. In this the men play a supportive role. Show more Show less

Are Mormons Christians?

Cynthia
We believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. He is the source of all truth. Through his sacrifice, we may be cleaned from sin. We must repent and have faith in Him to make that happen. Therefore, yes, we are Christians. Show more Show less
