Hi I'm Mindy

I am an US Army Desert Storm Vet, a College Graduate, a Business Woman and a Mother of 7 wonderful kids. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was not born a Mormon. My family was Baptist and Pentecost. My first years were spent with a wonderful family -- until my step-father came into the picture. Ages 8-14 were spent in a drug and alcohol influenced home where abuse was rampant. At age 14, I moved in with my father and found my new home town. I had trouble adjusting to a small town and didn't always get a long with my new family. I went into the Army after I graduated High School at age 17. I was able to tour Germany before Desert Storm claimed me. After the war, I return to Germany and got pregnant with my oldest born son. I was reassigned to Arizona where he was born. My tour of duty was completed before I even turned 21 and I returned home to this wonderful small town. The missionaries found me a few months later when my son was about 1 year old. They brought a message that changed my life forever. Since that time, I have found a peace that is never ending. I have a wonderful family with a supportive and loving husband. He brought 2 children into our marriage and I had the one. Together we have had 4 kids -- the last being a set of twins. I now run 2 businesses from home while homeschooling my younger children. The oldest 3 boys are grown. My twins are just 16 months old and into everything. I am so grateful that I have been given a chance to grow as a person and learn more of Jesus Christ. I have had many jobs over the years because I wasn't sure what I wanted to be when "I Grew Up". I have been a Soldier, a medical secretary, a truck driver, a corrections officer, a massage therapist, a website designer, a sales person, a Real Estate investor and a school bus driver. I finally figured out that it didn't matter what profession I was in as long as I was in business for myself.

Why I am a Mormon

The missionaries taught me some basic principles and encouraged me to read the Book of Mormon. The Bottom Line: I prayed about it. Heavenly Father sent His wonderful Spirit to confirm that the Book of Mormon is true that the message the missionaries were teaching were true. The book of Ephesians in the New Testament confirmed all they were saying, as well.

How I live my faith

Every morning, I read a chapter in the scriptures, then go looking for "Golden Nuggets". Golden Nuggets are when you hold the scriptures in your hands and just open them up randomly to see what pops out at you. I have received many revelations this way. I also record my thoughts, feelings and history into a journal each day. This is a commandment and I find that it helps me to sort out things in my head and find answers. Prayer is the final piece of my morning ritual. I try to pray more in the spirit of gratitude than in the spirit of want. I try to show my beliefs in my actions and not just in my words. This isn't always easy and I do make a lot of mistakes. That is why the Atonement of Jesus Christ is so important. I get a chance to renew my covenants each week and try again fresh.
