Hi I'm Kaylen

I'm determined. I'm enthusiastic. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey! I'm Kaylen, I'm 20 years old. I am preparing to serve a Mission. I have been reactivated to the Church, meaning: I was raised LDS, but I was inactive for about 5 years. About a year and a half ago, I had an amazing experience that brought me back to the Church. I have never felt so strongly that this is the true Church.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a Mormon because the Holy Ghost as repeatedly told me it is true. When I was inactive, a friend of mind took a walk. We ended up walking down by Temple Square. I stepped on the side-walk on the Temple Square grounds, and was immediatly filled with this feeling of love and understanding. I wanted to know what it was and why I felt that way. When I stepped off the Square, the feeling was gone. It took me a few weeks to go back again, but when I did, the feeling was back again. I wanted to learn more about it and understand it. So, that is what begun my journey into becoming a Member of the Church again. I am learning more and more about the Church everyday. I love everything that I am learning, and want to be able to share it with as many people that will listen.

How I live my faith

I teach the 11 year olds. They are some of the most amazing young adults (almost) that I have met. They usually end up teaching me more about the lesson. They seem to have a different outlook on what we are learning each week. By having this calling, I get to study the scriptures even more, I get to study the scriptures about a specific topic week to week. So in turn I get to learn more and more about the topics, than I normally would by my own scripture study.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Kaylen
I have been Blessed by the Temple, without even going through it. Most of my more enlightening experiences have happened near the Salt Lake Temple. To be exact they have happened on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. The love, understanding, and knowledge that comes of the Salt Lake Temple, are amazing. The Temple is used to get closer to Our Heavenly Father, I have been able to do this without going inside of it. Being in the presense of the Temple is enough. I have been filled with the love of my Savior and been givin knowledge through the Holy Ghost. I have been taught the importance of the Temple, to live my life the way I should so that one day I may go through it and recieve more knowledge. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Kaylen
I have asked myself this very question many times. I found the answer through one of the Sister Missionaries who taught me very important concepts. Men and Women are equal in the Church. Woman lead different orginazations, just like the men do. Woman lead Relief Society and Young Womans, while Men, they lead Priesthood meetings, and are Bishops. Women don't hold the Priesthood because it is not what God asked us to do. We are asked to have children and raise them in the Church. We are asked to support our Husbands in all that they do. It may not seem like a lot, but without Women to bring these children into the world, they wouldn't be able to leave this world to spend Eternity with their Heavenly Father. So, each roll we play is very Important to Our Heavenly Father's Plan. Show more Show less
