Hi I'm Dana

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Utah, but I have lived in different states and countries around the world. I am married to a wonderful Canadian naval officer, and together we have five energetic young men to raise. I live in my kitchen because I love to cook, but I also love to read and write children's literature. I love how books help to define who we are, and I believe it starts at a very young age! I've studied early childhood education in college, and I have homeschooled some of the boys over the years.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon and I have such fond memories of associating with the youth of the church growing up so my foundation has been a strong one, but not without its challenges. During those challenges, I have relied the examples of others, and my faith to see me through. I have enjoyed the fellowship of the saints over the years, and in my travels, every congregation I have been in has felt like family to me. That's how it is in the church. Anywhere in the world where the members are, they are family. As a young woman, my testimony strengthened as I was able to share it during a full time mission teaching the people of England, whom I love dearly. But over the years, I have stayed faithful because of my love and knowledge of the Savior Jesus Christ, the blessing of having a living prophet on the earth today to guide us and lead us, and the restoration of God's Priesthood and all that comes with it.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Humanitarian Aid specialist in my ward. This past year I have had the privilege of coordinating efforts to make blankets for three different charities. I have also taught the young women and children of the church. Over the years, I have shared my testimony through song, being a member of a local choir, and that of the Mormon Youth Chorus (which is now disbanded). These experiences, one and all, have been life changing and fulfilling. But I live my faith by attending church, having the faith to truly understand the commandments and live them, and reading scripture again and again to build a strength of spirit to withstand the fiery darts that come along.
