Hi I'm Heather

I am a photographer and a writer. I lived in Ukraine for a time to teach kids there. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest daughter in a family of 8 kids. I grew up playing sports all year round, and playing basketball in high school. I'm a photographer who loves to find that perfect shot. I'm a writer by nature and love the sound of string instruments. I love to listen to those who are struggling and helping them in any way I can; even if it is just listening. I'm a college student waiting on a missionary, who loves to travel the world, the Ukrainian and Russian cultures, and lives to please the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I grew up in Utah where it seems like everyone is a Mormon. A lot of young people here claim they're a Mormon because their parents make them go to church and seminary; not me. I go because I want to, I live each week to go to Sacrament Meeting on Sunday's. I live to feel His love... for me.

How I live my faith

Every week I go to the Stake House building and help with the special needs youth (and older) who want to come to activities but need a mentor and someone to help and guide them always. It is such a blessing to work with those who have disabilities because I learn so much more from them than I ever could from others.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

The simplest way that I have seen work in stopping this delusion to continue its spread is to listen with an open heart and an open mind. Those who are in the clutches of this type of addiction are generally too scared to let anyone know and instead, bottle it up inside and let it fester. By listening and genuinely caring, we can each help stop the influence of pornography from spreading. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints isn't easy all the time. There are many times where things go my way and I am happy as can be; but there are other days where it seems nothing happens the way I plan. But in the end, knowing that my Father in Heaven loves me and hears my prayers to Him, makes it all worth it. Knowing I can turn to Him, and that I will be blessed by following His commandments, makes all difficulties I face in the church and in life worth facing. Show more Show less

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Attending church is like attending public education from kindergarten to senior year; it's where we get our basic knowledge of the Gospel of Christ, our fundamental education for spiritual things. When we go to the temple, it's like going to a university; at the temple, we receive a higher education, a more rich, deep and full education. We experience things there that we can't learn on our own. Show more Show less
