Hi I'm Kara.

I'm a Mormon and I find joy in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

About Me

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Castle Rock, Colorado. I have been extremely blessed to be born into the church and am eternally grateful for the example that my parents are to me. I love my family, friends, the gospel, lacrosse, skiing, fashion, and Disney. I am currently serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Canada Toronto Spanish-speaking Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is Christ's true church, founded on the same principles and doctrine that He taught some two thousand years ago. I didn't always know this, but through prayer I have been able to find this out for myself. I was born into a strong Mormon family, to which I will be eternally grateful for. I know that because of my parents righteous example, I was able to recognize what they had as something that I wanted in my future life and also as something I wanted to exemplify to my children some day. Since I was born into the church, I have been taught the gospel my entire life. I am thankful for the examples of Nephi, Mormon, Moroni, the Brother of Jared, and other faithful servants of Christ that are found throughout the Book of Mormon. I remember when I was in elementary school, my parents would wake up my older brother and I to read the scriptures before we left for school. We weren't very excited about it, but after we got into a habit of reading, we realized the blessings that came as a result of dedicated scripture study. I know that because of my parents example and the knowledge that I gained from my youth, I have been able to take this knowledge and apply it to my daily decisions. Because I have this knowledge, I have been able to make choices that I wouldn't have otherwise had the courage to make.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church meetings every week. I also do my best to attend FHE (Family Home Evening) every Monday, and any other meetings that I might have during the week. I think that it is important to live your faith not only by attending meetings, but also by personal study. As we attend church meetings, we are able to learn about Christ and His doctrine, but only through personal prayer and scripture study can we really find out the Truth for ourselves. I live my faith by searching and pondering the scriptures alongside prayer.

What do Mormons believe about "eternal life?"

Kara.
We believe that we lived in heaven with our Father and his son Jesus Christ before we came to this earth. Our time on this earth is temporary, until we return to live with them again. While we are on this earth we learn through trials, make covenants (ex. baptism, sacrament, eternal marriage), and gain a physical body. All of these are crucial aspects to God's plan of happiness. We had to leave his presence to come to this earth in order to gain a body and perfect ourselves through Christ's Atonement. I am thankful for the knowledge that we have of God's plan of Salvation and the doctrine of eternal life because without it, I wouldn't be able to have faith that I could live with my family for all time and eternity.
