Hi I'm Matt

I'm a husband, a son, a brother, and a student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I really love to be doing things and feeling productive. I enjoy doing things with my hands (though I'm not great at it) and learning new things. I like to help others. The greatest joy in life is found in the service of others, and that means work. It helps me to be happy. I come from a family of four kids, of which I am the second. I really look up to my older brother and we're pretty close. I got married this past year and it could not be better. I love my wife with all of my heart and she is awesome! I have to make sure I exercise because of all the good food she makes. I love her. Some things I like to do are spend time with my family working, water skiing, hunting (which I'm just getting into), and eating.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the LDS church and so were my parents, but that's not why I'm a Mormon. Somehow my parents and other adults or mentors that I looked up to had a way of simply setting the example and letting me choose what to do. I know one of the things that I was taught most growing up was that I could pray to God and He would give me answers. That's what I've done and that's why I'm a Mormon. He lives. He is the Father of us all. He loves us and He wants us to be happy. I know God lives. I know His Son, even Jesus Christ, died for us. He died so that we could live. He died not only for our sins, but also for our hardships - so that He would know how to help us or strengthen us in times of need. I love Him and am so grateful for Him. I want to give my life to Him. He is the Savior, my Savior and Redeemer. I know He lives. I also know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I have read it. I have felt the Spirit. I have prayed to God and I know it is true. Joseph Smith, who translated the Book of Mormon, is a prophet of God, and we have a prophet on the earth today, even Thomas S. Monson. God loves us no less at this time than He has loved any of His children, and so He provides us with guidance in our day. The Gospel is true. I know it. It truly is "good news."

How I live my faith

I just try to serve in little ways each day. Certainly there is a lot more that I could do and I am working to be better. Trying be Christlike is a life-long pursuit. As far as church assigments, I was just asked to be a leader for the missionary efforts in our ward, or congregation you might say. Life and the Gospel are about love. That's what it's about. Our Heavenly Father loves us and so does His Son, Jesus Christ. They've given everything for us and they want us to be like them. I am so grateful for the examples of love and kindness around me. That's what I want to do and be - someone who loves and serves with selflessness.
