Why I am a Mormon

My mum raised me all by herself. Ever since I can remember she has taught me to have faith and how to pray. Little by little, I ended up having so many experiences and witnesses that God is real that one day, in my teens, I decided to pray and ask if the LDS church was true. In response, there were no bolts of lightning or carolling angels, but in my heart the Holy Ghost testified to me so strongly that this is the true church of Jesus Christ. And this keeps happening, anytime I pray for a testimony of various facets of the gospel, or for inspiration about something in my life, through the Holy Ghost my prayers are answered. It's amazing and wonderful. You should try it sometime.

How I live my faith

Recently, my husband and I moved from the UK to San Francisco in the USA. Both a huge blessing and a huge leap of faith for us. I have recently been a counsellor in my ward's (ward=congregation) Relief Society Presidency. The Relief Society is an amazing organization designed to look after the women aged 18 and over of the church. As a counsellor I assisted the President in her duties and basically help lift and look out for the women in our ward through service, visits, teaching and many other ways. The Relief Society is not restricted to the Latter Day Saint Women in our area, we also try do a lot of community service, etc. But how I live my faith isn't just about what I do at church on a Sunday. Being a Latter Day Saint is a full time thing. It's about trying to be a better Christian everyday, all the time. I love it. And the more I try live my faith, the stronger my testimony becomes that I'm in the right place doing the right things.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

Tasha
Tithing money achieves remarkable things. Tithing is a commandment. Hence, to fulfill it Church members give one-tenth of their income to the Lord through His Church. These funds are used to build up the Church, for example to build chapels, fix leaky roofs, etc, and many other things! Show more Show less
