Hi I'm Devin

I play video games, rock climb, grew up in Utah, and I'm a happy Mormon.

About Me

I have 4 older brothers and an older step brother and sister. We have been a happy little family since 1998, when my mom remarried. I love having such a great family. Being the youngest, I have had the opportunity to observe each of them while growing up and take the best things I see from each. You could say that I am a collage, or derivative, of my family. I love them all very much and know of few greater things than them. I really like to do just about anything with a computer. I have always had an intense facination with how these machines work and what they can do, and that has driven me to learn a lot about them. So much, that I plan to major in the Computer Networking field somewhere. I also have a lot of fun deconstructing anything that I can justify destroying (mostly things to already be thrown away). This world in which we live has such amazing capabilities and seeing what people have done to harness that makes me really wonder how it was done. So I take it apart until I know. I earned my Eagle scout rank when 17, one of the great things that has helped me to be a better person. To get it, I did lots of camping, hiking, thinking, and writing. It has helped me to grow my appreciation of all that I have in my life. I know that the great things I experience in life have been because God has a plan for my happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that Christ's church for all of God's children is on the earth once again, preparatory to the second coming of the Messiah. I eagerly look forward to the day when He will come again and we will be able to be with Him. I know that in preparation for that great event, the Lord called a prophet named Joseph Smith. Because of Joseph, all of the teachings and doctrines that Christ taught and even the nessasary priesthood authority to act in God's name according to His will are back on the earth. There is nothing anyone could do or say to make me understand or believe this. I believe this because I have studied much and gone to my God in prayer seeking to know for myself, and I can proudly say that I *have* found this out from Him and seek to declare this glad news to all around me. My father died when I was 3 years of age and the message of the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ has helped me to understand both where he is and how I can be with him again (something I look forward to very much).

How I live my faith

Currently, I am a full-time missionary serving in the Texas San Antonio mission. Everyday, we go out seeking to help people to come closer to God the Father, and His son Jesus Christ. We do this by teaching people how they can recieve answers to questions that they have, helping them to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and serving whenever possible in any way. I love being a missionary so much; I have never been so useful to others in my life. Because of my belief in Jesus, I have a motivation to do all I can to help my brothers and sisters that live on earth to be as happy as I am. My parents, scout leaders, and church leaders have all done so much to help me to cultivate that desire; another thing that I am very grateful for. Everything that I can do to help others to praise His holy name is what I seek to do.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Devin
No political parties are not something that church should have any voice in. We believe that any priniciples of righteousness (doing what is good or right) should however be endorsed by all people. Any party that believes in these good things would then be a great party to endorse. Show more Show less
