Hi I'm Kristyn

I live in Washington, have six kids and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm the lucky mom of 6 great kids (five boys and a girl) ages 10-20. I've been married for 22 years to my best friend and I'm grateful every day for that. I love dance, reading, exercise and I dislike cleaning my house (but I do it anyway:) Currently I'm a quest to organize my life and teach my children resilience and self reliance in the process--all while trying to maintain a sense of humor.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a "Mormon" because I see every day how it blesses my life. I know why I'm here and I know that there is more after this life that I'm preparing now for. The gospel helps me be a better mother, wife, neighbor, friend--and a better me! I thank my Heavenly Father every day that I was blessed to know the gospel and I strive to live it's teachings to the fullest.

How I live my faith

I have served in all different areas of the church and I've enjoyed all of my callings but recently I was able to participate as our Stake's director for a multi-stake dance festival. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life and was a testimony to me of how the Lord increases our talents when we serve. Currently I serve as the Beehive Advisor (teacher) for our 12-13 year old young women. I am amazed at the amazing youth I work with. The world is in good hands.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

Kristyn
We live in a time where pornography is so readily available. As a mother of 6 children (five of them boys) I worry considerably about the effect pornography will have on them. With the click of a button or a flash of a cell phone screen, it's only a matter of time before they are exposed to it. The best way we can stop the spread of this problem is to educate our children--teach them the dangers of pornography and reinforce that it is not harmless. Viewing pornography dulls the senses, creates unrealistic expectations, degrades women, and harms our spirits. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Kristyn
I'm not sure that my mormon lifestyle is that much different than most of my other friends. There are some things: I don't drink, smoke, swear, shop on Sunday, etc. But mostly, I like to laugh, go on dates with my husband, volunteer in my kid's schools, etc. I think the most important thing I can do is be a good mom to my kids and we make sure as a family to go to church together, eat meals together and have Family Home Evening each Monday night. What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Kristyn
I find it so strange when people tell me I'm not Christian. Our whole church is centered on the teaching of Jesus Christ and we strive every day to be more like him. We absolutely believe he is the Son of God. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Kristyn
Being a member of the Mormon church is fun! It's work--and out of work comes great blessings. We have a ward family where we have many friends and we have a wonderful time together. There is literally something for everyone: youth, children, women, men, couples, singles. That is what is so wonderful--we have so many resources to help us build and strengthen ourselves and our families. Our church is one of "doing." We don't (or shouldn't) sit passively by. Instead we volunteer for service, visit ward members, help in our community and study the words of the prophets and God. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens to us after we die? What do Mormons believe about life after death?

Kristyn
I think the beauty of our faith is the sure knowledge that this life is just a step--that there is more after we die. I think of it as the next chapter in my life. A chapter where I'll be with my family and loved ones, learn, grow and most importantly, be happy. It's this knowledge that comforts me when those I love pass away and although I am sad and miss them now, I also know that I WILL see them again someday. Show more Show less
