Hi I'm Aleksey

I teach English as a foreign language and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I teach English as a foreign language in Ukraine. In 2004 American Government recognised me as one of the best teachers of English language and American culture in Ukraine. I was awarded with a trip to USA, where I studied at Montana State University. I am a dad of 2 kids - a girl and a boy. My wife Ulyana is an English teacher too. In my free time I like to spend time with my kids, I love Family Home Evenings on Monday nights with playing games and studying the Gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I met missionaries in the street in 2002 and invited them home. I have been looking for some releagion and what they taught seemed just right. Then one day I realised that the Book of Mormon is true - I just felt it somewhere inside me. That's why I decided to be baptized. A month later my wife was baptised as well. My both children are in the Church too. Since I was baptised the life became easier because I am always protected by obeying the laws of the Lord.

How I live my faith

Every Monday my kids are looking forward the Family Home Evening - family time together, when we study the Gospel, watch a spiritual or uplifting movie or play a board game. I go to work Tuesday through Thursday teaching classes (We do not get payed for what I do in the Church, so we have to have job as well). Friday is when I help my wife to do her responsibilities in the Church - she teaches a class on Friday night while I babysit with the kids. Saturday night is when I do the Home Teaching - its when me and my younger companion visit the assigned families or widows and have a short lesson with them, help them in their needs and just spend time together. Sunday is the busyest day - it's when the whole family takes part in Sunday worship servise. I am a leader of a small branch (we call it Branch President). I am responsible for planning the Sunday service, making sure everything is all right in the branch. The worship service lasts for three hours which include Sunday school and other meatings. Then it's time for individual meetings with the branch members. As a local Church leader I have a possibility to improve the life in the local community, not only the lives of the branch members but other people as well. Every year our branch is involved in a humanitarian project of some kind - it can be helping a Homeless People Shelter to get a Desenfectant Chamber or getting a washer for a Children's Hospital.
