Hi I'm Mike

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father of 5 and grandfather of 20 (so far). My relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is real and is the most important part of my existence. My family is a close second. I have a graduate degree and have just sold a successful business so that I can retire and with my wife serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In fact, we have just been called to serve that mission by the living Prophet of God, Thomas S. Monson to serve in the Montana Billings Mission. I live a very happy life and consider myself a very blessed man in every way.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon family, my parents were not participating when I was young. When I was 11 my Bishop asked me to speak with him. He challenged me to come to church and start to be a better boy. I agreed to come, and by myself started going to church. I found friends and fun and faith. I have been an active participant of the church ever since because the values taught and the Gospel preached had brought me to know that I am a child of a loving Heavenly Father and that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior and friend.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an active member of the church and by trying to keep all the commandments. The church gives me many opportunities to serve others. I have learned how to serve the Lord by serving others. That brings great satisfaction and peace. When I am allowed to help someone, I feel very blessed.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Mike
Leaders have asked every worthy young man to serve a mission, but there is no requirement to do so. I served a full-time 2 year mission in Central Germany 1970-72. This was one of the greatest experiences of my existence. Not only did I learn to speak German fluently, I also learned to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to love people of another nation. We are all children of God. I know that!! Show more Show less

How does the Church finance its operations?

Mike
Members of the church are under no formal obligation to pay into the church. We do have the opportunity to donate to the church. I pay a full tithing. That means 10% of every dollar I earn I pay to the church. I also pay a fast offering every month to help those less fortunate than me. I can also donate to the church in other specific arenas such as temple building. Show more Show less
