Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I feel so deeply that this religion is true. It teaches correct principles and gives me the power to be a better person. There is an indescribable peace that comes from participating actively in this religion and doing what God wants me to. I rejoice in the knowledge I have of Jesus Christ and His atoning sacrifice for me and everyone. Because of this knowledge I feel happiness, hope, strength, optimism, and love. Through my life I have had struggles and trials. When I have lived my religion and kept the commandments of god, I have been strengthened beyond my own capabilities to overcome and conquer. I have been able to succeed in a lot of my goals, and felt real happiness because Christ has given me the ability. I have found comfort when I had thought that it would be impossible to feel so. Being raised in this church, I have questioned and wondered if The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints really was the only true church on the earth. I’ve wondered if there was a god who loved me, if the Book of Mormon was true, and if Joseph Smith was really a prophet. As I have sought out the answers, by asking god, searching the scriptures, going to church, I have gotten my answers. I have felt the power of the Holy Ghost (which is a member of the godhead who testifies of truth, through peace), has witnessed to me of the truth of this gospel. I KNOW without a doubt that this church is correct and true. I know it as much as I know anything else. This Church has an amazing support system with people who love others and try to be like Christ. By being a member of this church I am surrounded and strengthed by people who love me and look for ways to serve me. I know that this church has the answers to so many of the world’s problems in life. And as we turn to the Lord, we will find clarity and purpose in our lives. We are god's children and we deserve to be happy on this earth. Bottom line - THIS CHURCH MAKES ME HAPPY!

How I live my faith

Right now, I teach the adult class called gospel doctorine or sunday school. I teach from the scriptures, lds manuals, and the prophets words. This has been a great opportunity to know the gospel and learn the hearts of many wonderful people in my ward. My goal in every lesson is to do what god wants me to. I have felt that he leads me with his spirit on what needs to be said that day. It is not just a sermon, but more of a discussion. We uplift and strengthen each other. I certainly have learned so much from these wonderful people who strive to be like christ. As I prepare and teach every week, I strive to live what I am teaching. I feel strengthened when I have felt the spirit testify to me many times of the truthfulness of this church. Teaching also strengthens my relationship with my Savior, Jesus Christ. Sometimes it is hard to fulfill this task because it does take time from other things that I would like to do. But, as I have worked on my lessons somehow I am able to get more important things done in my daily life then when I don't prepare. The lord has a miraculous way of truly blessing me when I have done His work. I am so grateful I am able to teach. I have learned so much for them and hope they will be able to learn from me as well. Also evey month I visit two other women that are in my church. This is a time for me to bond with other women. I go to their house and visit anywhere from 20 minutes to hours. I try to strengthen them, make sure their needs are taken care of, serve them, and bless them in any way. But it is sort of like perfume: when you spray in on others, you can't help but get some on yourself. When I serve them and helped them I feel loved, I can't help but feel god's love for me. Whenever they need something, I try to be there for them. Somethings I like to do for them is: make a meal because they are sick or tragedy, help cleaning, give clothes, make cookies, leave notes, phone call, and pray for them.

What is faith?

Julie
Faith means that you know something is true without seeing it. For example, I know that i have a heavenly father that loves me. I know he is in heaven watching over me. But I have never seen him before. Show more Show less
