Hi I'm Channing

"I teach technology to Middle School Students. I'm a Mormon"

About Me

I have been married for twenty-five years to the love of my life; we have six children, five boys and one girl. They are active in the church and are all Mormons. I teach Middle School technology. I enjoy collecting books and reading a wide verity of subjects, Church History and Doctrine, Religious fiction, Educational research. I am interested in increasing technology in the classroom and developing support for projects across the curriculum.

Why I am a Mormon

II’m a Mormon first because of a friend my mother had when she was in high school who told her that she was a Mormon. They became friends and she shared some of the basic principles of the gospel. My mother spent the next 10-15 years looking for the Mormon Church. In 1968, my mother concluded her search when she asked a neighbor in Anchorage what church they attended. When they told her it was the Mormon Church she made plans to attend the next Sunday. We attended our first Mormon Church meeting and met the missionaries after Sunday school and made the plans to hear the discussions. To my memory, my mother told the missionaries; “what do we need to do to join the Church.” After two months of listening to the discussions my mother sat down and ask each of my brothers if we wanted to join the Mormon Church. We each yes we did and I was baptized when I was nine years old and have spent the rest of my life in the Church. I’m still a Mormon because I have taken the opportunity to reads the Book of Mormon and apply the promise in Moroni. I have knelt and asked my Father in Heaven if the gospel is true. I have had the Holy Ghost bear witnessed to my heart and mind that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint is the only true and living church of Jesus Christ on the face of the earth. I have spent most of my life studying the gospel of Christ and have found that the Mormon Church contains the all the principles and ordinances of salvation. From my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I have come to personally know that my Father in Heaven loves me and that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer.

How I live my faith

I teach Middle School Students, as a teacher I also serve on the school site council as the chair; I am a member of the school's leadership team, and a member of the PTO. I also help with the Boy Scout of America local district training scoutmasters and Varsity leaders. I also serve on the District Committee as the Charter Organization representative for the Mormon Church where I attend. This keeps me pretty busy. But, I also serve in the local church. I work with the programs for the young women and young men. I also help arrange the worship meetings assigning members to speak in these meetings.
