Hi I'm Nate

I am studying optometry. I enjoy music, road trips and doing puzzles. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college. I am studying chemistry and will attend the Ohio State University College of Optometry in Fall 2016. I will also be commissioned into the Navy as I begin my studies and will serve as a medical officer after graduation. I love being from Texas! Through high school I was really involved with music and band, competing and competitions and directing the music for school and community musical productions. My music involvement has become a great hobby as I focus my study on other things. I served as a missionary for the Church in Germany, and loved every minute of it! I appreciate the German people and everything the Lord was able to teach me through that experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I was given the basic foundation as I was growing up, and I enjoyed it. As a teenager I looked deep inside myself and found that I was happy living this way, and decided to stay in the Church and continue serving the best I could. I'm still a Mormon today because of the deep feelings of my heart that God and Christ really do live, and that They speak today. Their power and authority to organize and govern Their Church has been restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, and is held by Thomas Monson today. We have living prophets on the earth! Christ is my Savior, not only from sin and death, but also from daily moments of stress and disappointment, fear and sadness. I have seen and made record of His hand in my life every day since 2008 and know that He is intimately involved in my life. From these experiences, I feel changed every day. I feel closer to Him and more able to hear His voice and follow His promptings. I have seen the power of the Spirit touch the hearts of others, and I have witnessed the change that people make to become a part of this church and gospel. It's not just another church with some good ideas on how to live; it's the Church of Jesus Christ that He up originally, and has authorized to be here in our day with Apostles and Prophets leading the way just as Christ would.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the little things every day that bring me closer to Christ. Praying, scripture study, smiling, giving a helping hand. All these things help me feel close to God and feel fulfillment. I am currently serving as a secretary to local leaders, to help with organization and administration of the church here. I am also a teacher at the Missionary Training Center where I have the privilege to teach missionaries who are preparing to go out into the world to preach the Gospel. I make an effort every day to recognize the Lord's hand in my life; it is there and powerful!
