Hi I'm Katie

I'm a teacher. I'm a dancer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a student getting ready to make the transition into the real world. I am just finishing a degree in Early Childhood Education, and I am preparing to have a classroom of my own for the first time! I love young children, and I find a lot of joy in being a teacher, mentor, and friend to those around me. Some of my other hobbies include reading, hiking, traveling, and dancing. I especially love dancing. I have been a dancer all my life, and I just completed two years as a member of a performing arts company at my university. Moving on from college life can be daunting at times, but I am excited to graduate and discover what lies on the road ahead!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a Mormon household and I have been an active member of the church my entire life. When I was a little kid I relied on my parents' faith and belief in the church, but as I have grown older I have received my own witness that this is the true gospel. I love this gospel because it is the source of joy and happiness in my life. It has helped me to know that I am a daughter of God and that He loves me and has a plan for me. It has helped me to have a desire to be like Christ and to love as he did. It has helped me to form a close relationship with God so that I can receive guidance from Him throughout my life. I love this gospel with all of my heart and I know that if I live by its teachings, my life will be blessed.

How I live my faith

I strive daily to stand as a witness of God in all things. I am constantly working to better myself and become more like Christ. I attend church meetings every Sunday where I have the opportunity to reflect on how I am doing and how I can be better. I study the scriptures daily and I try to apply the teachings in my life. I follow and sustain the Lord's prophet on earth today. I pray to my Heavenly Father for guidance in everything I do. I look for ways to love and serve those around me.

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

The Mormon Church was organized by the Prophet Joseph Smith in the early 1800's. Joseph Smith lived in Palmyra, New York at the time of a great religious excitement. Joseph was confused by all of the different faiths and he did not know which church to join. When Joseph was 14 years old he prayed to God to know which church to join. In answer to his prayer, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph. They told him that none of the churches on the earth had the full gospel of Jesus Christ. Joseph then went on to restore Christ's gospel to the earth again. This included translating the Book of Mormon which is another testament of the life of Jesus Christ. The church was officially organized in Fayette, New York on April 6, 1830. Show more Show less
