Hi I'm Sarah

I am a Mom, a wife with a husband in medical school, a dancer, I'm crafty, and I love Cadbury Eggs. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I just recently graduated from Brigham Young University with a BA in Dance and I'm teaching ballet at a private school. I just accomplished a life goal of running a marathon and I'm pretty sure I will never do it again, but I recommend it to everyone willing and able! :-) I just had a baby boy this summer and I've been trying to adjust to life as a new mother. Somedays it's awesome and I feel like I have control of my life, but others I feel a little lost. It is well worth the journey though. However, I do have many hobbies that I pursue on the side. Some of which are thanks to Pinterest probably. I scrap book, I love reading (BIG Harry Potter fan here), camping, hiking, spending time with my husband, cooking, using my hands to create things that did not exist before, movies, girl's nights, holidays, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, dogs, and babies. (If you have any suggestions on how to convince a non-dog-lover that he really does want a family dog one day, let me know.)

Why I am a Mormon

For a good chunk of my life I was Mormon because my parents are Mormon. I was born into an LDS family, so it was just something that I did. Now I am a Mormon because I have gained a testimony of the truthfulness of this church through various experiences in my life. Looking toward the future I know that my membership in this church will continue to bless my life and the life of my family. The doctrines of the LDS church are central to my life.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday with my husband. We both get a boost from our Sunday meetings and try to be diligent about reading our scriptures and saying our prayers throughout the week. I'm trying very hard (especially now that I have a little boy to raise and need all the help I can get) to stay close to my Father in Heaven. Lately my mantra has been, "What's really in your job description?" This reminds me that right now my main job is to be a stay-at-home mom and use that to bless my family and others. Meaning, I need to be looking out for the best interests of my son, my husband, and looking for ways to serve in my community and the LDS church. There are so many women out there struggling with life and I can relate to that. I just need to find them and learn how to serve them. That's how I currently live my faith.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Sarah
We hold our temples to be very sacred places. Those who grow up as members of the church start to prepare at a young age to be able to go to the temple when they are old enough. Sacred ordinances are performed in temples around the world. The temple is a place where covenants, or two way promises, are made between individuals and the Lord. You must have a current temple recommend to even be emitted into the temple. Having a recommend ensures that you are a member of the church who is in faithful and diligent service to the Lord.
