Hi I'm Matt

I love to laugh. I'm an accountant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

The greatest joy in my life comes from my family. I am married to an amazing woman and have an adorable son. I wouldn't trade being a husband and a father for anything in the world. I am currently finishing up my masters degree in Accounting and in a few months I will be beginning my career at a public accounting firm in Washington D.C. I love to travel and experience different cultures. I lived in Spain as a child and returned there when I was 19 as a missionary for the Mormon church. I have also traveled to many other countries in Europe, Mexico, Canada, the Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and all over the United States. I feel like there is so much to see out there and I want to see all of it. I also love to eat! One of my favorite things is trying new foods. I love trying foods from all different kinds of food from all over the world. Other hobbies of mine include playing the guitar, playing basketball, drawing, and creating new things. My wife and I have taken an interest in restoring cool furniture and plan to learn to do more in the future. In summary I just love life in general!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon faith but had to develop a true belief by myself. I was always taught the gospel in my home but was encouraged by my parents to pray to know of its truth for myself. For me I came to know that this church is true as I studied the words of the prophets in the Book of Mormon and in the Bible. As I read the scriptures I could truly feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I also prayed to know for myself that this was the correct path and as I prayed I felt the influence of the Holy Ghost telling me that it was. The answer didn't come in word but in feelings of love and joy that are hard for me to put into words. I am also a Mormon because it is a faith that requires action. Everything we do is centered around the teachings of the Savior, Jesus Christ and throughout our lives we work to become more like him. This is a church of love and service.

How I live my faith

I served as a missionary in Barcelona Spain. I was there for two years and can honestly say that they were the best two years of my life. I was able to see the teachings of Jesus Christ bless the lives of so many people. Now that I am not a missionary anymore I still contribute to my local congregation. I currently serve as a teacher at church on Sunday. I also have an assignment to visit specific families in my congregation through an organization called home teaching. Every member of the congregation is assigned a home teacher to visit them once a month. The purpose of these visits are just to make sure that the families are doing okay and to serve them in any way they may need. It is a wonderful program and a way to make sure that we strengthen each other. To me living my faith is more than just serving on Sunday though. It's how I try to live every day of my life. I try to look for ways to serve others and to lift other every day just as the Savior instructed. My goal is to be a true follower of Christ by living by His teachings everyday of my life. I know that I am not perfect but I try to improve day by day.
