Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of four kids. I am also an uncle and I love my family. Growing up, I have always loved studying the weather, hanging out with friends and going on vacations with my family. I went to one semester of college and I served a two-year mission for the Lord in Jacksonville, Florida and I loved every minute of it! I am now going to school and working.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, so I have always gone to the Mormon church. There was a time in my young childhood when I struggled with having a desire to go to church, but when I began to truly seek and study it out in my youth, that desire changed and since then, I have realized the joy that comes from going to church and living the gospel. I have also realized how pure and simple the gospel is and I absolutely love it! I've been through some trials in my life that only through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I've been able to find peace and joy, no matter what I go through. I know that God and Jesus Christ live and they love each and every one of us and all of the pain and trials that we go through in this life can be fully healed through Jesus Christ, if we turn to him. I have seen the healing power of Jesus Christ transform other people in my life and the way that it brings happiness to people. I love my savior, Jesus Christ and I know for myself that this is His church and it is being led by a living prophet on the earth today. It is the only way the world will ever have peace and that is why it's so important that the restored gospel is preached to all the world!

How I live my faith

I am part of the publicity committee in the congregation that I am attending. I take pictures of the members and put them in the directory online of all the members in the congregation. I love serving the Lord! I love helping others to come unto Christ. I am doing this by serving in the church and sharing the gospel with as many friends as I can! I love reading the Book of Mormon! I also love the people that I serve! I continue to live the gospel by continuing to keep the commandments, honoring the covenants and promises I have made with Heavenly Father, and I will serve people around me.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. It is the same authority that Jesus Christ held and Jesus Christ gave His apostles that authority. The priesthood authority has been restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. It is the power and authority to preach and administer the ordinances of the gospel, such as baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, giving blessings to people, administering the sacrament at church, etc. It is only by that authority that these things can be done. What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

The church services are three hour blocks and the first one is called Sacrament Meeting where the congregation meets and the Bishop will assign about two or three members from the congregation to speak on a certain gospel topic, such as faith and other topics. During that, we also sing songs from the hymnbook that is provided and we also partake of the Sacrament, which is the bread and the water. We do that to renew our baptismal covenant, or promise, we made with God at baptism, and in remembrance of Jesus Christ and all that he did for us. The second hour, we split off into gospel classes according to our age and we learn about the gospel and how to apply it in our lives. The third hour, the men go to a class to learn how to be better sons and fathers and the women go to a class to learn how to be better mothers and daughters. We love to have visitors at church and anyone is welcome at any time. You can really feel the spirit at church and it is a great place to be! Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

We can know that this church is true by reading from the Book of Mormon, pondering the message that it has for us and truly think about it and study it out, and then we ask our Heavenly Father in prayer specifically if the Book of Mormon is true. If we have a sincere heart, meaning we really want to know and have a true desire to know, real intent, meaning that we are going to act upon the answer that is given, and faith in Christ, then the truth will be made known unto us through the peaceful and good feelings that we have that come from the power of the Holy Ghost. If the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith was truly a prophet and that this is Jesus Christ's church. There is no other way around that. Show more Show less
