Hi I'm Matt

I am a Scholar, I am a Jack of all Trades, I am a Husband, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently a college student and am married to the love of my life. I consider myself a jack of all trades, because I have had a wide range of training in many different skills (through work experienc as well as personal interest). My experience includes Repairs (including Computer Hardware and Software, Household Appliances, Carpentry, Electrical, and others), Food Preparation (including current regulations for commercial production), a wide array of computer skills (including office applications, database, and some programming), and increasingly Chemistry (and other sciences), as well as many others across the board.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints all my life, but I have repeatedly been posed with the questions in my life, whether I realy believe this stuff and if it is realy worth it living like I'm supposed to. Always, without fail, the answer comes back a resounding YES to each of these questions. Suffice it for me to say here that the answers to questions like these are out there and are readily available to ALL who want to look for them.

How I live my faith

There realy are many ways this is true. It is almost like asking me to explain every detail of my life realy as my faith, at least somewhat, affects every aspect of my life. You could say that I follow my religion religiously. One of the ways I do live my faith is to try and think how my actions affect others and try to always leave things in the positive. This may even be in small things, like making sure I put unwanted items back where they belong at the store, rather then just putting them somewhere else for someone else to clean up, to avoid causing the store employees excess work.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

A prophet by the name of Mormon wrote the Book of Mormon (hence the name) in the same way as an author may right a history book. You may or may not know already that we believe that there were followers of Christ in the ancient americas. Throughout time rightous men kept record of God's dealings with these people. Like the Bible, the Book of Mormon was a compilation of these religous books, documents, and records. Mormon (and his son Moroni in part) were commanded to collect these records and compile them to ensure the survival of the precious information contained in them, which they did. They hid this record in the side of a hill where they were found and then translated, with the direction of the Lord and his messengers, by the prophet Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Through the prophet Joseph Smith we have received a Code of Health known as the Word of Wisdom. You may already know that Mormons refrain from tobacco use and drinking tea, coffee, and alcohol, but there is much more to the Word of Wisdom then that. It also teach us about the proper use of fruits, vegetables, grains and herbs, as well as meat. In addition it recommends plenty of exercise as well as promises blessings, both physical and spiritual, for following these guidelines. Most interesting, I feel, is that this code of health as written in 1833. During that time it was not yet known that Tobacco, Alcohol, Coffee, and Tea had any kind of unhealthy properties at all, but only recently each have been found to contain potentially harmful substances and properties.
