Hi I'm Darren

I grew up in upstate New York. I'm a missionary in Torreon, Mexico

About Me

I was born in Utah when my parents were studying at BYU. I've lived in Chicago, Florida, and Washington State. Currently, I live in New York State in a place called Clifton Park. Here I've spent my teenage years. I've got a Father, Darren, two brothers, Austin and Dallas, and a sister, Kristina. Right now I am serving as a missionary for the church in Mexico! Before, I loved to spend time hanging out with my friends. I remember a lot of silly moments. Funny but most of my friends aren't members of the church. I also enjoy hiking in the Adirondacks with my brother Austin. My favorite hobby would have to be airsoft. It's like paintball, but instead of paint, its little plastic bbs. I aspire to do many awesome things later on in life. Like Climb Mount Everest or cross antarctica on foot for example! I want to study after I end my mission. Most likely something to do with Physics!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me well, as a member of the church. They both served on missions and were married in the temple for time and all eternity. I was baptized when I was eight years old. That is when I started my journey. Many people might say its too early to be baptized, but I still remember the feelings I felt, as my father baptized me. That same feeling I have been able to feel over and over again. Its like little fire in my heart, that only goes away when I disobey God's commandments. Even though I grew up with this ability to feel the Spirit, I wasn't exactly sure whether the church was true until the age of 16, when I had a very spiritual experience. I like to call it a manifestation from God's Holy Spirit. One day, I drove to a practice for my soccer team. I was the first to arrive. I was waiting, when I saw a copy of the Book of Mormon on the floor of my car. I picked it up and felt a desire to read the third book of Nephi, which relates the appearance of the Christ among the ancient americans. When I read the verses of Christ decending, a great feeling came over me. My emotions overcame me and my soul was filled with joy and thanksgiving. Out in the soccer field in the distance I could imagine Christ decending to see the people. That experience changed my whole outlook and certainly changed my life. From that point on I have had many more spiritual manifestations. Now it seems imposible to deny what I have recieved from God.

How I live my faith

Right now I live my faith serving Christ as a missionary and representative of Him. In May I received my call from God's modern day prophet, Thomas S. Monson, to go to Mexico and preach the Gospel. Being a missionary is the best thing I have done so far in my life. I feel the Spirit so much, and live real spiritual experiences almost every day. I now understand why the modern day prophets and apostles say that the home is the only thing comparable to a temple of God. When I am teaching the Gospel to a family in their home, I can perceive a glimps of the eternities. I strive to help as many people as I can each day.
