Hi I'm Michael/Iiridayn

I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a professional programmer who has mostly worked in PHP. I love the gospel, reading, dragons, programming, most games (with a preference for full information turn based strategy, like Go or Chess), learning, etc. I was born in 1985, am 29 as of this writing, and grew up mostly in Hong Kong (from 9 to Bachelors, back for Masters and currently live in Utah). I love complex systems, and puzzling truth out of them. I mostly go by Iiridayn online as my full name is non unique. Most importantly I have a testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I know that He lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I, like many others, am a convert to this church. It started from the time of my birth, when my parents began to teach me about the Savior by the manner in which they lived their lives and encouraged me to do the same. They weren't perfect, but they love me and have always desired the best for me. When I was learning to read, I begun to read in the scriptures during family scripture study. I was encouraged to study also on my own. By the time I was 8 years old, I had read the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and the entirety of the Bible, both the Old and New Testaments. I was interviewed by the Bishop and given the opportunity to accept baptism into the Church. One of the questions I was asked was if I believed that it was true (as I recall, or something along those lines). I responded that I did, in part of myself and in part on account that I knew that my parents did and I believed that they were right. The Bishop encouraged me to gain a testimony distinctly for myself, which I did in later years. When finishing the Book of Mormon for the third time, about the time I was 12, I desired to know of myself and receive a sure witness from the Lord. I read about how to detect an answer from the Spirit in the Doctrine and Covenants. I asked our Father in Heaven through prayer, in the name of Jesus if it were true, and the answer I received was as clear and unmistakable as ever any communication I have ever heard, voice, text, or any other medium included. He told me, "You already know that it is true", and I did. Since that time I have dedicated my life to serving my Lord and Master, He that Lives.

How I live my faith

I am active in the Church, I faithfully try to complete my calling, and my home teaching every month, I study the scriptures daily, and pray often - as well as at morning and night and over most meals. I pay tithing and fast offerings, attend many Church activities and sustain my fellow Ward members in their callings. These are small things, and easy habits to acquire. I live my faith by striving to bless the hearts and lives of those around me. I live my faith by asking, "Lord, is it I?" - and seeking to change the aspects of my soul which seek for things that rot and fade. I strive to become _like_ the Savior - to live the kind of life He lived, to serve, to aid, to uplift, to bless. I fall short of perfection - but as I am joined in that by men such as Peter and Paul, Joseph Smith and Moses, I can happily strive daily to better myself, to be just a little bit more like the Savior. He lives.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Michael/Iiridayn
President Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of God today. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Michael/Iiridayn
Absolutely! I have no doubt that President Monson is a prophet in the same way as Moses - a man charged with delivering the word of God unto all people that they may develop faith in Jesus Christ and repent. The same priesthood authority as seen anciently has been restored today. Show more Show less

Who founded Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

Michael/Iiridayn
The church as you know it today is the restoration of the same ancient church of Jesus Christ that has existed throughout the ages of the earth. Jesus Christ is the Head and the Founder of it. Joseph Smith was called to restore His church again in our days. Show more Show less
