Hi I'm Scott Allan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of four. As a Neonatologist, I take care of sick and premature infants.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a faithful Mormon family, and was taught from early on about the truths of Jesus Christ, the Creator of the Universe. However, it was not until I was fourteen that I started wondering if it was all true and real. After studying astronomy at school, I was lying on my back one night watching the stars and just thinking about what is out there. The thought came into my mind of a scripture I remember reading with my mom that says "all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme Creator." The moment I thought this I also felt a powerful, almost overwhelming feelilng of love and joy and reassurance that the scipture was true and that I was seeing the evidence of the Lord's handwork right in front of me. It was almost as if He were talking to my soul. I have never forgotten that feeling.

How I live my faith

I attend the Spanish speaking branch of my area. I work as a secretary for the branch, which means that I coordinate meetings with the branch president and record notes of the meetings for later review. I sometimes also lead discussions in our church meetings related to how we can apply basic principles about the gospel of Jesus Christ into our daily lives.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Scott Allan
Being a father is one of the most meaningful aspects of my life. Holding my own baby the first time brought intense feelings of happiness and gratitude as well as inadequacy that simply can't be experience any other way. My attempts to be a good father have brought about growth in my character as I try to love and guide my children into being good adults. Our interactions in our daily lives creates such a deep connection with each of them that I feel as if they are always with me. I know that because of Heavenly Father's Plan, my famliy will be connected together forever, even after death. That thought can be very comforting with the uncertainty that is part of life. How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Scott Allan
Knowing what Jesus Christ taught and lived as His way of interacting with other people is the foundation for how I choose to act. Its easy sometimes to become selfish, indifferent or even mean to other people in our daily lives. But Jesus taught that we should love even when we have been treated poorly. He taught that we should be kind, and care about our neighbors, and do good for them. My belief in Him and His teachings becomes real when I am reminded of how kind He was, and I choose to do the same for my family and others. Instead of making me seem weak, it gives me confidence that I am choosing to follow God and act in a way that pleases Him. It makes me a better, more caring father and husband. Show more Show less
