Hi I'm Mindy

I'm a redhead, a native Californian, a quilter, and a thrift store junkie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I guess I'm a pretty typical Mormon woman. I'm a stay at home mom. My husband and I have four little girls. Our oldest has an impulse control disorder called trichotillomania. I grew up in San Diego but live in Utah. I miss the beach like crazy, especially in the winter. I have a degree in Sociology. I sing, I run, I read, I sew, I parent, I try to eat right and be healthy. I love to be with my extended family, and really wish they didn't live so far away. I love a good deal and good design. I think these things can coincide if you know where to look.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are Mormons, and I was raised in a household of faith. I was baptized when I was 8, like most Mormon children. When I was little, it was easy for me to believe in the things I was taught at church, even if I didn't quite understand them. As I've grown, I've come to understand more about the gospel of Jesus Christ and what it means for me, personally. My faith in His gospel has grown as my need for it has. I've come to know, through the power of the Holy Ghost, that Jesus Christ's gospel in it's entirety is found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I'm still learning how to apply my faith and be a better a Christian. For me, conversion is a process that re-occurs every day, something I have to re-commit to. I just want to do what God wants me to do, and I know that He wants me to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

I was recently asked to work with the 14 and 15 year old young women in our congregation. I'm so excited, but also a little overwhelmed! I want to help these young girls come unto Christ, and gain a testimony of Him, and that's a heavy responsibility. This is such a difficult, but exciting age! I know that it can make all the difference in the world to have an adult take an interest in your life at that time. I have been praying for the Holy Ghost to guide me, and tell me what to say. I pray to know what their needs are, so that I can do my best to meet them.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Mindy
I didn't really understand the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for me until I had to apply it in my life. Asking for God's forgiveness brings me closer to Him, and closer to my Savior. It also reminds me of how necessary the atonement is. I would be lost without the ability to repent. We all would! "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." (1 Corinthians 15:22) When I'm bogged down by sin, I literally feel dead inside. Then, to confess that sin before God, it's like a rebirth. It's like I can feel again, like I can breathe.
