Hi I'm Steve

I'm on a mission in Brazil right now.

About Me

My name is Steve Curtis. I was born in Florida and lived there for the first 11 years of my life. We then moved to Cedar Hills, Utah. I come from a family of all active members of the LDS church. I'm on an LDS mission right now, serving in the Brazil Porto Alegre North mission. I'm loving every minute of it. Things I like are: movies, football the New Orleans Saints, music, Lebron James, Tim Tebow, and watching movies. And Lost - I'm pretty stoked to watch the last 2 seasons of the show when I return from my mission. I attended BYU before the mission, and will continue going there afterward. Well, that is me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon primarily because I was born into a Mormon family. For the first 18 years of my life I was always an active member of the church, but never truly had a testimony. I used the testimony of my parents as my own. By the time I was 18, I started to have the desire to know if the church was actually true or not since I was preparing to serve a mission for the church, but didn’t really seek after a response. On the mission, however, my eyes were finally opened. I have come to realize the veracity of this church. Through the study of the scriptures, prayer, and teaching the message of the restored gospel, while seeing the changes this gospel makes in peoples’ lives, my conviction of the truthfulness of this church has been fortified. I now know, without a doubt or question in my mind, that this is Christ’s church on the earth, that the Book of Mormon along with the Bible show us how to become more like Christ, that Joseph Smith restored the priesthood authority to the earth, and that we have a living prophet who guides us. That is why I’m a Mormon.

How I live my faith

It is pretty easy to live my faith here on my mission. We have strict rules that help us concentrate solely on helping other people come unto Christ. But the 2 main things that have helped me a little before the mission, while on the mission, and will help me afterward are studying the scriptures, and praying.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Steve
In the temple, sacred covenants, or promises, are made with our Heavenly Father by people who are both worthy and prepared to make such promises. The blessings we are promised are greater, but the penalty for breaking these promises are more severe. This is the reason that temple attendance is limited to certain members of the church.
