Hi I'm Amy

I'm a Mom, I'm a runner, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm just a simple gal. First and foremost I am a wife and a mother of two boys. Everything else I do revolves around those two roles. I love to run. I started running after my second child was born. I was going through a bit of an identity crisis, I didn't recognize myself physically or emotionally anymore. Running gave me a way to refocus myself. It gives me time to think, to process information, to put things in perspective. I've solved problems, had meaningful conversations with Heavenly Father, and planned lessons and talks while running. Getting in touch with my physical body has a way of opening up myself to the spirit. It helps that it also gives me awesome calves (which I may or may not spend time flexing in the mirror). I love to play the piano and started taking lessons again a few years ago. I mostly play classical music, I especially love Beethoven and Chopin. Though I love some Brahms and Mozart, well, I love a lot of composers. I'm pretty much obsessed with shoes, especially stilettos. I think I'm funnier than I actually am. I say awkward things without realizing it. And I can down more food than you'd expect for someone my size. That's me in a nutshell!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed enough to be born into a family that was already a part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love reading the rich and inspiring stories of my ancestors, their testimonies, and their conversion stories. Though my family history paved the way for me I still had to come to my own realization that the gospel is true. Through prayer, scripture study, and application of Moroni's promise I have nurtured my own testimony. I am so grateful to be a member of this church. I am grateful for the spirit which guides me. I have seen that when I heed the council given me I have been blessed in so many ways.   I am a mormon because I know it is true.

How I live my faith

My faith is the foundation of who I am. The standards and principals taught in the gospel are so deeply ingrained in me that I couldn't separate me from my religion. Often living the gospel is second nature to me, but that does't mean I'm without challenges. However the recipe for finding solutions for problems is the same no matter what the problem is. To pray with a sincere heart with your question, problem, or concern. To study the scriptures with the spirit with the faith that your prayers can be answered. And to thank the Lord when the spirit speaks to you.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Amy
Husband and wife can be together forever! We believe that worthy members of the church can be sealed together as families. The knowledge that my family will be together forever influences how I treat them daily.  I want to work extra hard to solve problems, to be kind, and to love my family. It is important to remember that no family is perfect. It's hard to remember sometimes when you see everyone putting their best foot forward at church. But with love, compassion, service and a little bit of work we can work past the bumps in the road and our love will grow and increase forever. Show more Show less

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

Amy
The church does not endorse political policies. We are all allowed to choose for ourselves whom to vote for. We are counseled to make educated decisions and to the best of our ability vote for candidates that are in line with our beliefs. Show more Show less
