Hi I'm Jerry

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I think I'm pretty normal. I try to be involved in the community as much as possible. I'm active in the local chamber of commerce and other civic groups and my job allows me to get involved in things that I wouldn't otherwise be able to do. I think that if someone wants change then they need to be willing to put the work into being that change. If all they do is complain about stuff then they aren't really making a difference. I'm interested in politics and it's a large part of what I do. I see being involved as sort of a calling so to speak, we need to do our best to make the world the way we think God wants it to be so that people can be what they have the potential to be. This has always been a goal of mine.

Why I am a Mormon

For me the church makes sense. I may not know the answers to everything, or the reasons, or why something is the way it is, but I know that I was created by the one person that does. I also know that He is in charge and that it is through Him that I can have hope. I know that God gives us challenges equal to our potential and how we use these challenges is how we define ourselves. These challenges are the path that God created to make us into what He wants us to be if we follow Him and seek Him. For me the church provides the space between the dots that makes things connect. It helps me not worry about things so much and do my best with what I have.

How I live my faith

I try to be an example of my faith and put it into practice in my day-to-day life. I know there are many who may not agree with the things I believe in, but there are lots of good people and I do know that if I live the way I say I believe then I can at least be an example to those around me. I believe the only way we can prove our faith is by putting it into practice. I don't think God wants us to keep things to ourselves or "quietly practice" our faith if this faith is the one thing that can save mankind. Yes I do think we need to be careful and loving in how we share it, but knowing the purpose of life and knowing that there is a reason we came here and that we can return should be enough to motivate us to go out and get involved and share it with those who are searching for the same thing. We need to also stand up for what we believe in and realize that sometimes when we do, we will inspire others who feel the same to do the same. We need to be willing to stand for something.
