Hi I'm Kim

I'm a wife, a mother, a Ph.D., and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married four years and have a 2 year-old daughter. I grew up in southern California, graduated from high school in northern Virginia, and went on to BYU. I eventually received my Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. I love figuring out how things work, building and making things with my hands, and the overall creative process! If there's a craft where I can make something beautiful, I'll probably want to learn how to do it - or at least try it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family and went to church services and activities every week. However, there is always a point where you need to study and learn for yourself what you believe and what is true. A lot of people wonder how I can know that Mormonism is true - what's great is that everyone can know for themselves. Most people that have a relationship with God know that feeling when God answers their prayers. I read the Book of Mormon, prayed to know if was a true book, and God told me in my mind and in my heart that it was. I am thankful that I can ask God if something is true and that He answers me. I'm a Mormon because I believe the Mormon religion holds the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I feel the love of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ as I read the scriptures, pray, go to church, and follow the example of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I find peace, safety, and understanding that I can not find anywhere else. It also gives me opportunities to serve others, and in many ways expand my capabilities and skills. When I study the doctrines of the gospel, they make sense in my mind and in my heart. I love the gospel - and I love science. I've never felt any conflict between the two. Because of the gospel, I know who I am, where I was before I was born, and where I'm headed after this life. I also know the whole purpose of being here, which really helps me keep things in perspective as I navigate through life - especially during the hard times. We are all here for a reason!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to follow my Savior. I try to become better each day. Right now, I teach the young women (ages 12-18) in the congregation on Sundays and help organize activities for them during the week. I try to find ways that I can help those around me.
