Hi I'm Lisa

I'm a wife, a mother and a professional writer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a happy wife and the mother of two darling daughters. I work full time as an Instructional Designer and writer and am hoping to one day publish a book. I love to cook, read and can totally beat my kids at Guitar Hero, which means I'm over 30 and still cool! (That's what it means, right?)

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I love Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. While I've been a member all my life, I've worked hard to gain a testimony of the gospel. Through prayer and studying the scriptures I've learned that there is a purpose for our life here on Earth. We have a Heavenly Father who loves us and hears our prayers. Heavenly Father wants us to be happy and he has provided a way for us to live a happy life on this Earth. In spite of my trials and the natural stress and sorrow that are part of every day life, I know the Lord loves me. I'm a Mormon because I've found that a life filled with faith and service, a life focused on family and the gospel, a life that helps me better know my Savior, Jesus Christ fills me life with peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I'm an active member of the LDS church. I'm had a lot of experiences serving in the church. I've taught Sunday School classes for both youth and adults. I've worked with women in the church visiting, teaching, doing welfare and service related work. Currently I'm working to train local leaders who are responsible for organizing the Primary, a Sunday School program for children.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Lisa
We believe that God has a physical body, which is perfect and glorified. We believe we are created in God's image, so our bodies look very much like his. He is a distinct and separate being from Jesus Christ, though they are one in purpose. Show more Show less

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Lisa
You can pray. When you do you will feel a peace and calm. This is a feeling from Heavenly Father, the Spirit, confirming that the Gospel is true. It's hard to imagine that you can receive such definitive answers from someone you can't see, but God is real. The Holy Ghost is real and God communicates with us through the Holy Ghost. We read in the scriptures that God will answer our prayers. The scriptures teach that if we knock, it shall be opened unto us, if we ask, we shall receive. We ask in prayer to know if the gospel is true and God will tell us. God always keeps him promises. Show more Show less

What is a ward/stake/branch?

Lisa
Wards and branches are local congregations, organized geographically. A number of wards in the same geographical area are then grouped into a Stake. We often say we are part of a ward family, because you really get to know people in your ward. Over time you have opportunities to interact and socialize, to serve together, to watch out for one another. Through your association with a ward, you develop close relationships with the people around you. Show more Show less
