Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a husband, dad, writer and marketing guy. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I guess the first thing you should know about me is my really obsessive love of family. My wife and I have nine children and we love every minute of it. A little chaotic at times like when pillow fights erupt in the living room... or when a surprise tickle attack on one draws the others in like bees to honey..., but always full of real life. We homeschool the whole clan and I work out of the home, so we're always here, all the time. We eat breakfast, lunch and dinner together - it's totally awesome. We live on 5 acres with a very wimpy stream, a lovely forest, some nice pasture, a huge garden and rolling hills. Family soccer and baseball on the hill slope is interesting... hehe I'm also a schizophrenic entrepreneur. I started and crashed more than 7 businesses in the first 12 years of marriage that made for some "fun" spousal discussions, let me tell you. I did finally get one right, but it hasn't stopped me from always thinking of new ideas and racing wildly down other rabbit trails. What can I say... I just enjoy new things. And that's another thing you should know about me. I love to travel. I love the thrill of seeing new places and learning about events and people that make them meaningful. Once or twice a month we jump in the ol' 15 passenger van and head out across the country side. It's a grand adventure... it's a great life.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because being a Mormon means being a devote, loyal, loving, passionate follower of the Savior Jesus Christ. It is my knowledge of, love for, and commitment to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that makes me a Mormon. I know that they live and that they love me deeply. In fact, they love you and me enough to put a Plan in place so we can have amazing levels of joy, happiness and peace-of-mind, right now, today. That Plan starts with Jesus Christ. It continues with Prophets of God - both ancient and living, modern-day Yes! there is an authorized prophet of God on earth today. And it focuses in on the family and individuals, children of God... you and me. I'm a Mormon, not because we have a monopoly on truth and happiness, but because this Church is the only one on the earth that has ALL of the truths about life, death, happiness, joy, salvation, and the Plan. It's the complete package. It's everything God has to offer his Children. Above all, I'm a Mormon because I'm a lover of truth. I carefully, earnestly, and diligently asked God to know if this was His true Church and Gospel. He answered those prayers in special, quiet, powerful ways. Because of that I know He lives and He's real and He loves me. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God. I know that there is a Plan and that I'm following it. I know I can be with my wife and children forever, even after death. I know that Jesus is my Savior and rescues me from my sin and errors. And that's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

My faith is centered on the Savior Jesus Christ and I try to live that faith by following His example in serving the individual. So, living my faith starts each day with my personal devotional of prayer, scripture study and giving thought to how I can serve others on this day. It continues with my family - teaching, serving, uplifting, giving my all to my precious wife and children. It carries on to members of the congregation that we go to Church with. Right now, I have the joy and privilege of being a leader of about 470 other Mormons in my area. I visit with them, laugh with them, cry with them, pray for them, clean up yards, paint houses, pick up and deliver food for the needy, fix cars, pray, and worship with them. It is in this kind of service - blessing the lives of individuals - that real joy is found and true faith in Christ is really lived. I'm not perfect, but I'm giving it my all and I think that's enough.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Joshua
As the daddy of nine children, I suppose I'm like any other father... my love for my children is boundless. And I'm just a regular, really imperfect mortal. Imagine how our Heavenly Father - an all knowing, all powerful God - feels about you and me. You and I can come to know Him and His endless love and care for us in the same way we develop any other relationship. Talk to Him, spend time alone with Him, learn about Him, share your hopes, dreams and fears with Him, talk to other people about Him, serve Him by serving others. He's real, He lives, He loves you and me. Show more Show less
