Hi I'm Trent

I'm a internet newlywed, recent graduate, and future father.

About Me

I come from large family. When I served a mission for the Mormon church God blessed me to be able to learn another language. And good thing for that since when I meet my wife she only spoke Spanish. We first met online on a social network then endured a long-distance relationship but it was all worth it. I like to keep up on current events and frequent internet news and blogs though I'd never have time to blog myself. I've always liked to learn and take in information. I love learning about the two topics society says your not supposed to bring up Religion and Politics. I really enjoy learning about what people believe and I draw inspiration from the good that is found in so many different viewpoints and faiths around the world. I love science and technology and like seeing how we implement it into our culture. I like to enjoy corny humor. I love spending time with my wife and making her laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

As I said before, the Gospel of Jesus Christ helps me keep my priorities set straight. It is because of my faith and family that I work hard and study so that I can provide a good home. It is this faith that keeps me going and that makes it all worth it. I have prayed to understand my Father in Heaven, to know He is real, and to know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored. Though I had to pay a high price to gain this witness I know that Jesus paid a much higher price for me to have this faith. I know that Jesus died for my sins and that through is suffering I can be clean. It is his saving grace that keeps my going that gives me hope. I'd be lost without it. My own efforts are useless without the enabling love and grace offered to the whole world. He is know by many names and by many faiths He is Yeshua, He is Christ, He is Jehovah, He is Yahweh, The Great I AM.... Whatever He is called He is my Savior and my Messiah, and the Son of God. I know that is through Him that I can have a relationship with my Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Sometimes it's a struggle to keep life balanced, but my faith in Jesus Christ means I don't have to do it alone. I find additional time to serve at church and any calling I am asked to take on. I do this without pay but God sends me many blessings for it. I think the biggest blessing God has given my besides my life itself is my wife. I've been married for over 3 years. There is a lot of adjusting that needs to take place when you get married.. It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and my wife at my side that helps me keep my priorities in order. I know that God loves me and my wife and that He has provide a plan of happiness for my family. All challenges in life, no matter what point in life are best handled with the help of the Lord.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

Trent
My explanation as to why the priesthood is only held by those who hold it would only give another opinion to the many already offered. When discussing this questions one current church leader, Elder Ballard explained “When all is said and done, the Lord has not revealed why He has organized His Church as He has.” As far as leadership and authority, Joseph Fielding Smith, said this: “While the sisters have not been given the Priesthood... that does not mean that the Lord has not given unto them authority." While it is true that a large part of the positions in the church governorship are for those that have been conferred the priesthood, mormon women do lead as auxiliary general authorities and in local congregations in auxiliary positions. This authority comes from the priesthood keys that our Heavenly Father has restored in our era. Elder Dallin H. Oaks recently taught that "when a woman—young or old—is set apart to preach the gospel as a full-time missionary, she is given priesthood authority to perform a priesthood function. The same is true when a woman is set apart to function as an officer or teacher in a Church organization under the direction of one who holds the keys of the priesthood." Revelation from God will guide decisions as to whom the priesthood keys are conferred. In the Church we can see that God's power and authority is given to bless the lives of his children regardless of gender. Show more Show less
