Hi I'm Jon.

I will make a difference in the world. I love life and thank God everyday for it. Oh yeah... and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I love life! I'm 20 years old. I love learning, languages, culture, music, family, people, and the Gospel. Since high school I've been all over the place. I taught English in Russia. I spent a few months in Brazil and learned Portuguese there. I've lived across Canada and been to many cities from coast to coast of the US. I've enjoyed studying some other religions and reading other sacred texts like the Qur'an. I served a 2 year mission for this Church in Kiev, Ukraine. Since then I've been studying Russian in the US. I'm not sure when life will take me, but I look forward to getting married, having a large family, and living in many countries around the world. I plan on investing and getting more into philanthropy. I also have great interest in circus arts and being a paramedic, so, who knows, you might see me on a stage sometime or cruising around in an ambulance front seat of course.

Why I am a Mormon

I should start by saying that I've always pretty much done whatever I wanted. I was born to parents who were members of the Church and I've been going since I was born. Initially I guess I went because I loved the people there and I often had a pretty good time. I had felt a special Spirit there but didn't have any firm testimony of my own. When I was 15 years old I decided I shouldn't just go because it's a nice place to go. I thought that if this Church wasn't true then I could probably have a lot of fun without all the standards and I'd certainly have a lot more time. I needed to find out for myself. I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and I got down on my knees to ask our Heavenly Father whether or not it really came from him. I'm glad I was already on my knees because I feel the answer so strongly throughout my whole body I think I would have fallen to them if I hadn't been. Tears flowed from my eyes and that day I knew with certainty that that book is the word of God and this is Christ's true and only Church on the Earth. I've since read the Book of Mormon several times, in addition to the Bible, and my testimony has been strengthened more and more as I've felt this Gospel bless my life and seen it bless the lives of others. I am Mormon because I know it's true.

How I live my faith

At the moment I have two callings, or assignments, in my congregation. The first is Branch Music Director. What this means is that I choose the hymns we sing each week during our worship service. I also organize any specially musical numbers and conduct the music. The second is as a councilor in our organization for adult men called the Elder's Quorum. A quorum is a group of people and an Elder is a man who holds the Priesthood. In this capacity I help to ensure that the needs of all the members of our congregation are met in addition to organizing service projects and quorum activities. In this Church everybody serves and it's such a great opportunity. I also have many chances to give talks in meetings and sometimes teach lessons. In my everyday like I try to live my faith by striving to emulate the example our Savior, Jesus Christ, set for us. I try to love and serve others and make sure they know I am here to help if anybody needs anything. I look forward to also living my faith by raising up a righteous family.

What is the Law of Chastity?

Jon.
The Law of Chastity is a moral code from God revealed to us by modern prophets. A summary of the law is abstinence from all sexual relations prior to a legal and lawful marriage and complete faithfulness to one's spouse afterward. It also includes striving to be pure not only in action, but also in deed. For this purpose, we are to avoid all pornographic and distasteful material. I have definitely felt the blessings of living this principle and the more I learn, the more I see how great and divine this Law is. Show more Show less
