Hi I'm Rachel

I'm an Army wife. I'm Mom to a very lovable little boy. I enjoy being healthy. I love children of all ages. And, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! I think life is full of wonderful things that help us to feel happiness and closer to God. I am most happy when I am with my family. My husband, who's serving in the military right now, is my best friend. And, my 1 year old son is the greatest source of joy in both of our lives. Outside of my family-time I like to run, find fun ways to make food from scratch, search thrift stores for especially good deals, and read. I also have a serious love for peanut butter and chocolate. I also recently completed my Early Childhood Education degree from home and thoroughly enjoy spending time with children of all ages.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because only when I live the principles of this Church am I most happy. I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life. There have been times where I did not follow the principles taught in this Church as closely as I knew I should have. During these times I felt confused and sad. However, when I try my hardest to live as the Savior teaches we should through His prophets and His Church, I find peace and joy. Problems do not go away, but I feel like I can conquer them. This Church brings me such peace I am even able to find joy in the midst of hard things. I truly believe this is Jesus Christ's church, and living it brings us happiness and purpose no matter what afflictions we may face. I am a Mormon because living what is taught in this Church brings me closer to Christ which gives me feelings of joy, peace, and confidence.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by working with all of the teenage girls in my congregation. I organize weekly activities where they can come and have fun in a wholesome environment. I organize their Sunday meetings, and frequently teach them. I think the youth of today face more hard choices than ever. I admire the way they stay strong and resilient in a world full of degrading influences. Working with these young girls and seeing their strength amid such confusion has been a greater blessing in my life than I ever could have imagined.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Rachel
Families are so important to Mormons for several reasons. First, we believe that the family is central to God's plan for His children, and the most basic and important unit in society. We believe that strong families equal a strong community and world. Secondly, we believe that families provide the greatest opportunity for learning and growth in this life. While some family ties bring us challenges, families can also be out greatest source of joy. We believe that we need to do what we can to strengthen our family and help make them happier, regardless of challenges. Third, we believe that families can be together forever. We believe that when a husband and wife die, their marriage does not have to end at "till death do you part". We believe that family relationships can be perpetuated beyond the grave. And therefore, we try to do all we can to make sure our family life is good here, so we can continue in those loving relationships in the eternities. Show more Show less
