Hi I'm Ryan

I'm a Latter-day Saint, or as more commonly know, a Mormon.

About Me

I am an Electrical Engineering working in California for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. I graduated college in April, and have been most fortunate to find a good job in the field of my studies. I praise God for the blessing it has been to find a job, and in a location of my choice. I know that the Lord blesses those who serve Him, love Him, and keep His commandments. I enjoy the outdoors, I grew up close to the beach, and would visit it often in the summer. I come from a family that loves to go camping and hiking. Our family vacations included visiting family, National Parks, camping in the desert, and hiking up in the mountains. Of course we would visit Disneyland, Six Flags and Knotts Berry Farm, but the majority of our vacations were family vacations, spending time with each other, and having a great time with one another.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I Mormon? That is a question I was asked a lot of in my younger years, especially in high school. I remember many friends asking me questions about my faith, what I believed, what we did, what this was, and what that was. I was happy to be able to talk to them, and explain what I believe. I come from a diverse family. My immediate family are all members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, but when we branch out into my parents families that story changes. My dads side are all members of our church, but my moms side is not. This presented a great opportunity for me going up. I was able to see both sides of the "world," that within my own religious beliefs, and that outside of my beliefs. I was able to see my dad's side growing up in the church, and doing things a certain way, and then I was able to see my mom's side of the church, and how we would do different things with them. It was a great faith builder for me, and helped me to gain a great love for everyone not matter what their religion was. I do however have a very strong belief and faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints. I have had the opportunity to read the Book of Mormon, to study it, and ponder it's teachings. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. I know that it was written by ancient prophets of old under the direction of Jesus Christ. I also know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. I know that he translated the Book of Mormon, and that through Joseph Smith the gospel was restored to the earth once more. I know that we are led by a modern day prophet today, even President Thomas S. Monson. I know that he talks with God, and receives modern day revelation for our day. What a blessing that is, to know Gods will for His people in the day in age. I love this Church. I love the Gospel, and I testify that this Church is true.

How I live my faith

I have had the great opportunity to serve within my church within various callings and positions. My latest position in which I have been able to serve in my ward has been as Sunday School President. That means that I get to make sure that we have teachers to teach every Sunday, and that everyone is learning from the lessons each week. It has been a good position where I have been able to learn from the teachers I am over, and where I have been able to share my insights on how we can be better teachers to help the members of the church feel the spirit more as they come to class each Sunday. One of the greatest callings I have had was as a missionary for the Church. I served my mission in Venezuela, Caracas, and spent two years of my life teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. It was a great experience in my life, where I was able to learn a lot from our brothers and sisters in Venezuela. Most people I talked to were not members of my church, and I was able to learn a lot from their faith, and teach them of mine. It was a great experience and I have a great love and admiration for the people of Venezuela.
