Hi I'm Alan

I'm a Christian, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Professional and have been happily married for 26+ years, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am happily married to an amazing woman and we have been blessed with six beautiful children, two of which are married and have added to our family with two incredible grandchildren. My wife and I like to exercise by walking together early in the morning several days each week - when it's not too hot here in Arizona. I own and operate a technology consulting business located close to my home. I find great enjoyment in working hard each day and serving my clients. I find even greater enjoyment being with my wife and family and close friends and volunteering in our local church congregation. I enjoy spending as much time as possible with my wife and family and in being together. I also enjoy hearing our daughters play the piano at our home. I enjoy spending time in the mountains where I can be close to God's creations. I enjoy studying and learning new things and expanding my mind.

Why I am a Mormon

While I was born into the LDS faith it required developing my own testimony just as my ancestors did when they heard the message of the restored gospel in Northeastern Canada, England, and the Italian Alps in the early 1800s when LDS missionaries carried the gospel to their homelands. I believe in and Study the Bible along with the Book of Mormon and other revealed scriptures of our faith. I have diligently searched these scriptures, fasted, and sincerely prayed to receive the undeniable witness of the Holy Ghost that this is the only true and living church of Jesus Christ on the face of this earth. And, that it is led by a living Prophet and Apostles the same as in Christ's original church that He established during his life and earthly ministry some 2,000 years ago.

How I live my faith

Actively living my faith is the only means of true peace and happiness in my life. This knowledge has come through daily experiences and the need to seek after my Savior, Jesus Christ and to be like Him. The restored gospel brings meaning and purpose to every facet of my life. We pray as a family every morning and evening before retiring. We do our very best to read and study the scriptures each evening before having family prayer. We have a Family Home Evening every Monday evening where we spend time playing games together or having lessons and studying principles of the restored gospel or holding family council to discuss matters that are important to our family. We attend church worship services together as a family every Sunday where we learn more of God and Jesus Christ. There we enjoy singing hymns, partaking of the sacrament, hearing inspired talks by other church members, attending class and participating in lessons taught by other members of our congregation. My wife currently leads the young women organization in our congregation. I currently help with the record keeping and technology requirements of many congregations and have previously served as the leader of a ward congregation for many years and have also worked with the young men and younger primary age children as well as fulfilling other opportunities for service. Our church has a lay leadership as in the ancient church when Jesus Christ was on the earth. A lay leadership means that our pastors and leaders are not paid but serve as volunteers where we neither campaign for specific service opportunities nor deny when we are called to serve for however long that period of time may be. These opportunities for voluntary service have brought me closer to my Savior Jesus Christ and to those that I have had the privilege to serve.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Alan
My faith in Christ is strengthened when I try my very best to learn of Him, follow Him and His will for me and my family: I believe that to learn of Him is to follow Him that we we may come to know Him and truly desire to be like Him: He taught: John 7:17 - If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. John 17:3 - And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. King Benjamin's words in the Book of Mormon are instructive in helping increase faith in Jesus Christ. Mosiah 4: 9-10, 5-16 9 Believe in God; believe that he is, and that he created all things, both in heaven and in earth; believe that he has all wisdom, and all power, both in heaven and in earth; believe that man doth not comprehend all the things which the Lord can comprehend. 10 And again, believe that ye must repent of your sins and forsake them, and humble yourselves before God; and ask in sincerity of heart that he would forgive you; and now, if you believe all these things see that ye do them. I have come to better know my Savior as I study His teachings and strive to emulate His life in my personal, family, and professional life. And, when I make mistakes, I seek His forgiveness and continue on. These principles have strengthened my faith in Him. He is my Example, my Savior, my Redeemer, my King! Show more Show less
