Hi I'm Reese

I love playing the piano, analyzing investments, playing sports, and eating good food. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of two beautiful kids, and I've been married for a little over six years. I went to school to study music, and then found my career in finance. I now spend most of my day helping dentists make good financial decisions; but I still try and fit my music into the endless list of to-do's throughout the day. Being a good father and husband can be challenging; to make matters more complicated, I try to exercise, eat regularly :), pursue more education, etc. While it seems like it's impossible to get everything done, I appreciate life's opportunities and challenges. Good friends and role-models have been a great source of inspiration for me.

Why I am a Mormon

The majority of people that I know have formed their opinions about religion without undertaking a serious endeavor to study and learn about the history, teachings, and scriptural sources from the religion in question. You'll never arrive at any meaningful conclusions by reading commentaries and opinions about religion. True religion is about establishing a relationship with your Creator and striving to understand your purpose on earth. I've tried to spend a lot of time reading and studying the sources of scripture that the mormon church espouses. Those scriptures have taught me more about God and my relationship with him than anything else I have ever read. After reading those scriptures, I have consistently felt God's guidance in my life. pushing me through challenges, and helping me be a better person.

How I live my faith

In my local congregation, I help manage daily, weekly, and monthly financial concerns. I help ensure that any funds that our congregation contributes to help out the poor and needy are documented using appropriate accounting procedures. Under the direction of our local Bishop, I make sure that our congregation operates on a strict budget to maximize the benefit of each dollar. Unlike many charitable organizations, all of the members(including myself) serve without compensation; this allows us to stretch each dollar much further than other non-profits. This allows the donations to reach the poor and needy areas of the world without being significantly impacted by salaries and overhead day to day operations. I think most people would be surprised as how much good we can achieve with even a small donation.

How does the Church finance its operations?

Reese
The church finances its operations through the law of the tithe. 10% of everything that we earn is contributed for the benefit of the church and its programs.  Unlike many charitable organizations, all of the members (including myself) serve without compensation; this allows us to stretch each dollar much further than other non-profits. Because we are not trying to support significant operation overhead, the donations reach the poor and needy without being significantly impacted by day to day operations. I think most people would be surprised as how much good we can achieve with even a small donation. Show more Show less
