Hi I'm Roberto Rodriguez

I live in Calgary, AB. I'm a father, a learning services expert, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a person who likes to spend time with my family as much as I can. Those are the things that matter the most in my life. I am a Learning & Development professional with a vast experience in implementing learning solutions and programs in the corporate world as well as the BPO industry. I have been doing this job for over 10 years and I really enjoy supporting people with their learning opportunities and ultimately seeing them develop and grow as professionals, as well as reaching their highest potential in today's world. I moved to Canada a little over 2 years ago with my wife and children. It wasn't an easy transition; but definitely worth it when it comes to providing better opportunities for our children. The settlement process has been quite challenging specially because of the change in weather and the culture overall. We have been blessed to have found wonderful people that made us feel welcomed and at the same time supported us along the way (spiritually and temporarily). It is amazing to know that when we open our hearts and souls in supporting and serving others, we find happiness and joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I really like being a Mormon because this is the only place where I can find answers to all the questions I have regarding everything. My mom always taught me that serving God and serving others is where we find happiness. I live a happy life being a Mormon. I have found tons of opportunities to be of help to others in any way. Another reason why I am a Mormon is because I have the opportunity to learn from my mistakes and I know that Heavenly Father will always be there for me (as long as I am willing to keep changing my way of being). I am not perfect, and being a Mormon doesn't make me instantly perfect either; however, I believe that all the teachings and experiences I acquire through the restored gospel of Jesus-Christ help me improve my attitude towards life and also learn the way Heavenly Father wants me to behave and support my family in the journey of happiness. As a Mormon, I really enjoy the fact that families are a central part of the plan of happiness. I have a sacred responsibility to provide for them and look after them in all matters and circumstances.

How I live my faith

I enjoy serving others whether at church or in the community. I have been serving at church for over 20 years and there is no single time when I haven't felt the spirit of joy and satisfaction when I see the spiritual rewards that come with serving others. My mom taught me that every time I have the opportunity to serve and be of help to anyone in need, I should be prompted to act and say yes (even if the task requires additional learning or if I haven't done it before and might sound challenging or too difficult).I used to be a seminary teacher a long time ago and I truly learned the sacrifice youth make by waking up so early in the morning to learn the Gospel and be better people. I also worked as a full time missionary for 2 years between 1997-1999 in Guatemala City North Mission. It was a wonderful experience losing myself in the service of others. I learned how important it is to prioritize and do what it is important and will bring the most joy into your life.
