Hi I'm John Rees

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a business lawyer and a father of five children. My wife is a CPA who has devoted her life to blessing our children and helping them to be happy and productive. I also have two sons in law, one daughter in law, and four grandchildren. My wife and my family are a blessing and the source of a great deal of joy and happiness in my life. I attended the University of Utah for an undergraduate degree, a law degree, and an MBA. As a lawyer I enjoy helping clients solve problems and counsel with them about how to strategically move forward. In my personal time, I love to travel, hike, ride my bikes, both mountain and road, and read.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that God loves His children and has a plan for each of us. That plan includes returning to live with Him some day, and achieving our eternal potential. He is a God of love as evidence by His willingness to sacrifice His Son, Jesus Christ. He has created families on earth that provide the essential elements for us to grow, learn and develop. In families, we develop love, compassion, and concern for each other and for others. After reading, pondering, and praying about the words of Christ found in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost has given me a witness that these words are true. The Holy Ghost has given me an unmistakable sense and feeling that if I and others live the principles taught by Jesus Christ, we can have joy and happiness in life life, and eternal life with our Father in Heaven after this life. I have found from personal experience that as I seek to live the principles taught by Jesus Christ and His living prophets, I am happy and I feel the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life.

How I live my faith

I have had rich experiences as member of the LDS or Mormon Church. I am currently serving as a teacher of young single adults (ages 18 through 30). I enjoy talking with them about their goals and aspirations and what they want to accomplish in their lives. My life is enriched as I share with them my own experiences and learn from them about being prepared in life and learning how to be truly happy. I have also had the opportunity of serving as the bishop of a congregation or ward. I was responsible for the administration and management of the congregation or ward, but my greatest joy came from working with members of the congregation in need, and working with the young women and men ages 12 through 18. They were at a critical stage of life and were trying to understand their potential and who they were, and I felt privileged to meet each week with them to talk, teach, and otherwise be together.
