Hi I'm Dane

I'm a Mormon. (a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints)

About Me

I am a student with one more year of college and then I will hopefully be off to professional school after that. I have been married since August 1st, 2009. My wife, Aimee, and I were married in the Boston Temple where we were "sealed" for time and all eternity. We have faith that families are meant to be together forever and we believe that it is possible because God has restored His true church on the face of the earth today.

Why I am a Mormon

I have studied in my life to know if this is the true church. I prayed to know the truth and have no question that this is Christ's true church on the earth today. We have a prophet on the earth now, just as they had at the time Moses was on the earth. I know that he, Thomas S. Monson, is a true prophet of God and have only seen blessings come following what he has taught.

How I live my faith

I am a firm believer that my faith should not just be a once a week activity that i participate in just on Sunday. I love living and learning more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ every day of the week. I am serving in a ward where almost everyone is a single college student and I have seen the great faith of these individuals. We are always planning service activities and participating in uplifting activities like sand Volleyball, Frisbee and just finding tons of ways to have a great time and joke around. My wife and I have made the goal to read from the scriptures each and every day. It has been the greatest blessing in my life because I have seen the great affects from the lessons that the scriptures teach me. I know anyone would be closer to God from reading the words in the Book of Mormon and Bible.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Dane
Christ taught that unless a man be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter in the kingdom of God (John 3:5). Christ himself followed this commandment when he was baptized by John the baptist, who held the priesthood authority of God. All of us need to be baptized by that same authority that John the Baptist, Christ, and his apostles held. We believe that God has restored that priesthood authority on the earth today. However, we also know that not everyone understands this or has that opportunity in their life. In temples, baptisms are performed for and in behalf of an individual who has passed away. We believe that those individuals who have passed away are given a choice in the spirit world, of whether or not they will accept that baptism performed for them. God always wants us to choose if we will His commandments. He never forces us. Paul taught about this very principle in 1 Corinthians 15:29. This is something that went on during that time as well. I have a testimony that this is true and I know that God wants all of His children to return to Him and that is why He has provided a way for each of us to make that choice. Show more Show less
