Hi I'm Phil

I'm Welsh, I play rugby, I'm a Law student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love football, but being Welsh, rugby is in my blood. I love watching sports and playing them. For two years I served as a missionary in London and the south of England and it was a life changing experience. I am currently a Law student at Lancaster University, and in the future I hope to be able to help people with what I learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I can't imagine not being one! I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to God and I recieved the answer that it was all true. Since then I have learned so much more about God and Jesus Christ and I feel I have a better understanding of who they are and who I am to them. I know now that I am a son of God, and that to me is the most important thing that I have ever learned. It effects everything that I do and gives every cloud its silver lining.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping my religion in everything I do. I don't play rugby on Sundays as I want to keep the sabbath day holy and attend church instead. I don't drink alcohol after rugby games with the team because it is against my religion. I do, however, give my all in a rugby match and leave it all on the field. I also go out at least once a month with another person from my local ward and visit some families from church. We call this home teaching and we teach these families in their homes about Jesus Christ and help them in any way that we can. This is one of my favourite things to do. Its even better than rugby!

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Phil
The Word of Wisdom is a revelation (message) given to the prophet Joseph Smith. It talks about how we should look after our bodies and what we should and should not eat or drink. Many people know that Mormons don't drink Alcohol, tea or coffee and that they dont smoke. This is the Word of Wisdom. There are blessings that come from living this that are promised by Heavenly Father. One blessing is that you will be physically healthy and strong. We are promised that we "shall run and not be weary, and shall walk and not faint." and as a person who has always been involved in sport I can say it has definately made a difference in my life. Another blessing you recieve when you live the Word of Wisdom is that you are better able to recieve answers to prayers and hear the promptings of the Holy Ghost. That, for me is even more important than my ability to run. Show more Show less
