Hi I'm Karen

I'm a Mom, college student and love to spend time with my family.

About Me

I've been a member of the church all my life. That doesn't mean my testimony came naturally. I had to find out if I believed what I had been taught all my life. I was a rebelious teenager and lost my way. I started my family young and realized with the birth of my first child that my daughter needed the gospel in her life. She needed the direction that I had been given, that foundation of the gospel of Jesus Christ to help her. As I went back to church in my early 20's I realized that I needed the gospel and strengthening that the scriptures and fellowshiping members can give. I soon could not wait for Sunday's and have been fully active ever since.

Why I am a Mormon

Good question. I don't know why the Lord saw fit to send me to a family that were members of this church. But I'm so thankful that he did. I might be like some people in the world and wonder what was true and probably not have peace in my life. I'm a member because I feel that all the teachings are true. I felt the reassurance through the Holy Ghost, he testified this to me by the swelling in my heart. I love my Savior and all the scriptures we have been given. The fullness of the gospel has been restored to the earth and I know it, and it gives me peace in a world of ever changing values and ideas.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through prayer, scripture study, family home evenings, listening to my leaders and the prophet. When I pray with my husband I feel it keeps us spiritually strengthen, and that helps our marriage. When I pray with my children it also helps strengthen my family as a team, on the Lord's team. :) As I serve in my church callings it gives me a better understanding of the gospel teachings. As I serve others by visiting teaching, it helps me to strengthen my inner self while I focus on others. I don't realize that I'm helping myself till the night has come and I reflect on my day. I then feel like I've learned what the Savior has told us in the scriptures that I am my "brother's" (sister's) keeper, and I feel love for them.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

Karen
We believe in God the Eternal Father, and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. We believe that they are 3 distinct personages but act as one. God the Father, and Jesus Christ have bodies of flesh and bone and we are made in their image, but the Holy Ghost is a spirit. The Holy Ghost testifies of all truthfulness to our hearts and minds, but we must be in tune to hear. We believe that all things are under the direction of the Father and He instructed Jesus Christ to create our world and universe. That is why Jesus Christ is the God of the Old Testiment and Heavenly Father is the God of the New Testiment. Doesn't make much sense when Jesus was in the Garden of Getheseme and on the cross that he was talking to himself does it? This is what the fullness of the gospel does for me, it clarify's these teachings so we aren't confused when we read the scriptures. Show more Show less
