Hi I'm Richard

I grew up in Utah, spent time in Texas and ended up in California. I like vegetables. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently married to my best friend. She is a devoted wife and loving mother -- I am so blessed! I love watching the TV show WIPEOUT, and would love to compete some day. Also, my family thinks I should compete on the show CHOPPED because it is pretty much my favorite show to watch with my family. I am getting better at cooking, but have a long way to go before I would be CHOPPED eligible. For my profession, I teach high school social science classes at a small rural high school in the heart of the Central Valley of California. I have been blessed with five fantastic children, each with his/her own unique talents, dispositions and desires.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful for family ancestors who answered the call of the Holy Ghost through missionaries to come unto Jesus Christ and His Restored Church. As a result of their faith and their motivation to follow the living prophets and apostles of Jesus Christ, they have bequeathed to me the opportunity to grow up in a home where I and my siblings were loved and nurtured in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As I received line upon line and precept upon precept, I grew in the gospel and had the opportunity to learn how to exercise faith, repent and make covenants with our loving Heavenly Father. I find true joy in fellow-shipping with my family in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I treasure the opportunity to use the Priesthood to bless my family and those to whom I am called to minister.

How I live my faith

I like to think that despite my numerous human frailties, I strive to pattern my life after the Savior Jesus Christ. I know that each individual family is the most basic and fundamental unit of the Lord's Church. Indeed, the standard by which I believe every family can gauge it's success can be found at the following website:http://www.lds.org/library/display/0,4945,161-1-11-1,00.html I currently serve as an early morning seminary teacher for Junior and Senior age teenagers who are attending both Atwater and Buhach High Schools.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Richard
As a Bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have been privileged to see first hand at the local level how involved members of the church are in reaching out to members and non-members alike, in efforts to help those in need temporally and spiritually. Often, this help has come in the form of the widow's mite. This has touched my heart greatly and strengthened my testimony in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His Restored Church. Show more Show less
