Hi I'm Reid

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for almost 20 years, and we have been blessed with 4 children in our home (3 boys and 1 girl). They are active, vibrant, and bring the normal joys and trials that come with children. I enjoy reading - history in particular. Living in Idaho we take advantage of the outdoors in the form of camping and hiking. We live on two acres and use the space for gardening, chickens, a couple dogs, a couple of cats, and the occasional steer.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a convert to the church. When I was 19, a family I was close to gave me a copy of the Book of Mormon. I was at a point in my life where I was seeking the truth. I had attended different churches growing up (Catholic/Protestant) and enjoyed the feelings I experienced there. As I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it, I received a very real and very personal witness from the Holy Ghost that it was the word of God. At that point I made the decision to be baptized. I am an only child, and while my mom and dad did not share my conviction about the Book of Mormon, they were supportive of my decision. While neither of my parents have ever shown an desire to learn more about the church, they have each conveyed in their own way that they see and feel the influence that it has in my life and the life of my family. From the single decision to be baptized has ensued a path of blessings that every meaningful and important element of my life has come from. I know that I am a son of God, that Jesus is the Christ, and that this is His true church upon the earth today.

How I live my faith

One of the aspects of the church that has solidified and strengthened my testimony is the opportunity to serve the Lord and others through church callings and assignments. Two years after I was baptized, I had the opportunity to go and serve a two year mission in London, England. These were two of the best years for my life. I was able to seek out those who were looking for the truth and teach them the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since that time, I have had the privilege to be assigned as a home teacher, with the charge to go and visit assigned families in the ward (church congregation) each month to offer them fellowship, support, and whatever service they might need. I have had the chance to teach primary children, youth, and adults in our Sunday meetings. When I am serving, I feel as if I am doing what the Savior would do for His church if He were on the earth today.

What is faith?

Reid
For me, faith is an outward expression of trust in God. Faith can be exercised in many ways, such as prayer, attending church, and reading the scriptures. As I exercise faith in my life, I find that I gain a greater assurance that God lives, that I am His son, and that Jesus Chris is my Savior. Show more Show less
