Hi I'm Kurt

I'm an Albertan, a dad 2x over and a Mormon.

About Me

Im in my early thirties and my wife Andrea who is 5 years older than I am have been married for six years, and we just had our second baby. It took over four years for our first to come, so we are really excited to have them both. Along with being a husband and father, I am a happy employee of Husky Energy, working in the records centre and warehouse. Before that I was self employed, running my own snow removal and lawn maintenance business, however I found it to difficult to manage everyting so I went back to working for someone else and I love it! I love cars and everything to do with them. In the last 6 years I've owned 9 different vehicles of all types. My favorite was the 1977 camper van. Next I hope to get a 1960's to1970's car! Another thing I really enjoy is learning about science. Science of all types from the human body to the stars, planets and universe. By studying the world and the universe I believe we are studying God's creation and learning more about Him. I love this Mormon Message Video about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JR8qIrJcJh4&feature=feedlik

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a teenager I went to school with some Mormon kids. There was quite a few in my area in Canada and I always liked them. As my time in junior high and high school progressed, I was able to get to know them and learn more about the beliefs they had. I always wanted to be a "good" kid and since I was raised with next to no religion, when they told me things about their beliefs I felt really good about it and always wanted to know more. Finally when I was nineteen I came to a point where I was unhappy with my situation in life and I was praying for some things that would make me happier. One night some missionaries came to my house and shared with me some of the gospel, as they talked about it, I remember they had a light and a glow about them that really impressed me. It was later that night I decided to start going to church and to live the commandments that I had learned from my Mormon friends. I've been living it ever since and it has made all the difference to me in my life.

How I live my faith

I try to live every aspect of my faith by doing what God's prophets have taught me to do. Currently I serve with the young men or teenage boys in the church. Since I was not a part of the church until I was nineteen, it's neat to see how they live the teachings of Jesus Christ at an age when it is particularly difficult. Attending church each week is an important part of living my faith. It helps me to learn about our saviour and to become a better person. Also, I make sure to spend quality time with my family. My business can easily crowd out my time for this, but I know that as I keep my family close to me we will be happy together.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Kurt
No this is not true. We worship Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Although we do revere the prophet Joseph Smith because of the great and many things he did in his life such as establishing the church, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

Kurt
It started in the eastern United States in 1830, and remained there until persecution drove the early members of the church to move to what is now known as Utah in the mid 1840's. Show more Show less

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kurt
Keep the commandments, and when you mess up-repent, or in other words-seek forgiveness and to make things right. Then learn from your mistake and keep them better than you did before. Show more Show less

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Kurt
I don't know. I suppose they are misinformed or don't understand us, perhaps they heard it from someone else who was misinformed. I do know the church is a good place and it helps us grow closer to God. Show more Show less

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Kurt
I think faith in Christ can influence us in our relationships and friendships mainly because He taught us love and how to show love through service. To me, those are two keys to good relationships with family and friends. Show more Show less
