Hi I'm Sasha

I grew up in Moscow, Russia and am a convert to the LDS church.

About Me

My wife and I are parents of seven children. I have been a distance runner since the age of 11, and have achieved a measure of success winning the Top of Utah marathon twice and running a personal best of 2:23:57 in St. George. So naturally I introduced the sport into our family. All of us run, except the two youngest. My oldest son and I also play chess a lot. I work as a computer programmer. Most of my experience is with the MySQL database. I was one of the its original developers, and wrote the replication. My wife and are both fluent in Russian, and are trying to teach it to our children. Russian is my first language. My wife learned it in Russia, at BYU, and from me.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe the claims of Joseph Smith to have seen the Father and the Son, to have translated the Book of Mormon, and to have received a commission to restore the true church of Jesus Christ on the earth to be truthful and authentic. Therefore I know that this is the church of Jesus Christ in the last days.

How I live my faith

We attend church every Sunday. We also pray together as a family and study the scriptures every day. Then we try to follow what we learn to try to keep the Lord's presence in our lives. We do our very best to follow the teachings of the LDS church. We consider the leaders of the church to be inspired men similar to prophets and apostles like Moses, Peter, or John in the Bible, and take their advice as if Moses himself spoke to us.

In whom should we have faith?

Sasha
We should have faith in Jesus Christ. We honor our prophets as men of God and follow their direction, but we do not worship them. They are here to help us find our way to Christ, just like the ancient apostles who were mortal men called to do the Lord's work. Show more Show less
