Hi I'm Cody

I love to play basketball. I'm studying to become a Fellow in the Casualty Actuary Society. And yes, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to a beautiful woman, and we are the proud parents of a beautiful girl! I like to make my family the center of my life because my experience is that that brings me the most happiness. I am currently working as an actuary in Southern California. I majored in statistics, with a minor in Spanish. I love being bilingual and learning about cultures other than my own. I love playing basketball and volleyball. Some of my favorite hobbies include fishing and playing piano, neither of which I am particularly good at! These hobbies help me to relax and put life's difficulties into perspective. I love my wife! I love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life! I would not change it for anything. Every time the news reports celebrities having all kinds of trouble with drugs or depression or alcohol, despite being rich and famous, I am reminded about what is really important in life, and what brings true peace to each of us. I know that living the gospel of Jesus Christ allows Him to bless our lives with peace and comfort, even and especially in times of trial. I have felt the security that comes from knowing that I have a perfect Father in Heaven who loves me and cares about me. I love the emphasis that my religion places on creating strong family ties, and in building relationships that are eternal. I know that the Lord Jesus Christ suffered, died, and lives again, and that as I do my best to follow Him, I too, will be able to live forever with Him and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

Living my faith has been a natural part of my life since I can remember. I love feeling a kinship with those who live around me, and have been grateful for opportunities to visit them in their homes and share counsel from God's prophets. I have taken a particular interest in the last few years in visiting with those who are investigating or have recently entered my church. I love to watch them as they learn not only of the gospel of Christ, but as they learn to feel of His love for them.

What is the Book of Mormon?

Cody
The Book of Mormon is the record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas, i.e. the ancestors of the indigenous peoples that populated the Americas when Columbus discovered them. It illustrates God's dealings with those people (referred to as Nephites) and gives the testimonies and counsel of prophets of that time period. It also describes a visit made by the resurrected Jesus Christ, giving further testimony that He lives after mortal death. Of particular interest to me is the fact that many of the Book of Mormon prophets saw our day in vision, and wrote teachings that would be directly beneficial to us. I know that the Book of Mormon contains God's words for us, and I love the spirit I feel when I study it! Show more Show less
