Hi I'm Erin

I am a college student studying Freshwater Ecology. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah my whole life, and now I'm at a University studying freshwater ecology. I'm the youngest of 4 children. I love learning new things. I love reading good books--Shakespeare, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and CS Lewis. I love being active and being out in nature. Whether it is hiking, rock climbing, boating, or just climbing a tree in the front yard, being outdoors is my favorite thing. I am passionate about all uplifting music; I love singing and dancing! Someday I hope to be able to teach freshwater ecology at the university level.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know it is truly the path to Eternal Life. I have seen first hand the power of prayer, felt the presence of ministering angels, been blessed and healed by the priesthood authority, and know of God's great love for me. Personal revelation that is too strong to be blown off as anything but truth from God has testified to me that Christ is my brother and Savior, and that this is his restored church in these Latter-days.

How I live my faith

In my student single's ward, I participate on a committee in charge of planning social events for the ward. Whether it is a "Linger Longer" (snacks served after Sunday church meetings to encourage people to stay and make friendships) or a trip to the local reservoir for boating and barbecue, we make sure there is always something fun to do, because we believe that wholesome activities strengthen and uplift us as Saints!

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

Erin
I am so grateful for the proxy baptisms performed in temples. Through this, family members and ancestors who passed away without having a chance to hear the gospel, accept it, and be baptized, can have this wonderful opportunity. Having a sister who passed away before she was able to make all of the covenants we believe are required for gaining eternal life has made me appreciate that God has provided a way for righteous people who have passed away to be baptized and become members of His church.
